Question about GMC Safari

The AC COMPRESSOR SEASED ON MY 94 Safari XL and destroyed my fan belt. I would like to install a new belt and bypass the AC. If this is possible I would need the proper routing.

Can I use a short serpentine belt. AC compressor isn't working.

I have a 2000 E430. I just did this job because my ac compressor froze. I went to O'reilly and bought a serpentine belt 6pk2310.(different brand has it as k0910). The numbers after the part number is the length in mm or inches. Eg. 0910 = 91 inches == 2810mm. Just follow the diagram and bypass the ac compressor. Tools: 15mm wrench for the pulley tensioner. It took me 5 minutes to do this job and be on the road again. It is very easy.
On the Right is the normal diagram.

On the left is how you bypass the AC compressor on a E320/E430 2000-2002 engine.

I need to bypass the ac compressor on my 2000 mercury grand marques. Is it possible without purchasing a bypass pulley or anything else?

I am going to take a wild guess and assume you are speaking of the serpentine or standard fan belt here. I guess you wish to not repair the ac, because of the cost at this time.
I have been able to bypass that ac pully a few times, but not always.
One way you might try would be to remove the belt that drives the ac compressor, and then take a string or rope and try to wrap it properly over each pulley and see if that is even possible. Some cars will make bypassing that pulley impossible due to the positioning of that compressor.
If you find that there is clear passage for the string or rope, and that all other pulleys will be driven, tightly stretch the string or rope, and then that will be the length of belt you will need to buy.
God bless your attempts.

Seized A/C compressor

The cause of this is that the roller bearing that the AC compressor pulley turns on is frozen up, the bearing can be replaced but you will need to buy the pulley assembly to get the bearing and you will need a special puller to remove the pressed on pulley. As far as finding a proper belt size to bypass the compressor that is nearly impossible to do, you may get the measurements right but in most cases the belt size you need will not be available, When the factory builds a car or truck with "AC Delete" they install a bypass pulley and the same belt is used for both with and without AC. The cost to replace the bearing is low, and that would be the by far the easiest thing to do here. You can buy the AC tool you need online, just google the year and make.

How do I disconnect the a/c compressor and remove it in order to install a bypass pulley on my 1997 grand prix

you can save some time by leaving the ac compressor on and just getting a bypass belt from a parts place that bypasses the ac compressor it will save you some time and possibly some money. hope this helps.

I have a 2002 buick rendezvous and the air compressor has locked up and broke the serpentine belt. Is it possible to re-route the belt to bypass the air compressor or buy a smaller belt? Any other options...

If you have the ac turned off the clutch on the front of the compressor should disengage. Then the ac pulley will spin freely and you can drive until you save up for a new compressor. You may want to save up they are about 3 to 400 bucks plus installation which is about 300.

I have a 99 chevrolat suberban 1500. Is it possible to bypass the a/c compressor, and use the same belt?. If not what type of belt do I need?

Bypassing the AC compressor is not done with a belt, all modes and engines have but one belt number, what is done is that a AC bypass pulley is installed in place of the compressor. These bypass pulleys are little motre than the cost of a belt, they are made by GM as a replacemement part and in the aftermarket by a comapny named "DORMAN" any good parts store like Napa or Carquest can order the pulley you need. here is a picture of a typical pulley

94 park avenue ac compressor locked up can i bypass?

there should be a manual bypass to remove the clutch to the compressor otherwise measure the belt and go about 10 inches or shorter (just a hint to get the belt off use the tire iron wrench and push the tension pulley toward the cab of the car the thread is reversed)

Engine Belt

hi there it sounds to me that the bearings are going bad on your ac/c compressor

you can bypass it by getting a smaller belt
to get a size you can take a piece of string or rope and go around the remaining pulleys like alternator power steering and crank shaft then tie a know take it to napa and have them match as close as possible then install that belt this will solve your problem until you replace the compressor
the other way is go to a salvage yard look for you make and model without a/c there will be most likely a pulley and bracket in the place of the a/c compressor
take a picture of the set up and take the pulley off including the mount bolts and then remove th compressor on your car and install the pulley and you can use the same belt

Alternator Belt

TAKE A ROPE AND RUN IT AS IF IT WERE A BELT ALONG THE ALTERNATOR AND CRANKSHAFT. MEASURE THE LENGTH OF ROPE THEN GO TO PARTS STORE TO BUY A SMALLER BELT. THE IDEA IS TO BYPASS THE AC BEING A 94 IM SURE IT HASN'T WORKED IN QUITE SOME TIME, I'VE BEEN A MECHANIC FOR 8 YEARS AND WE BYPASS THESE ALL THE TIME, THE TENSIONER ON THAT CAR I BELIEVE IS ON THE ALTERNATOR, HONDA MADE THE AC OPTIONAL.. BELTS ARE USUALLY NAMED AFTER THERE SIZE (IE 4060934 IS 93.4 INCHES LONG) IF NEED BE REMOVE THE AC COMPRESSOR.
