You can do it..if you have the tools and know how. I would tell you to replace the belt, and inspect the tensioner while you are there. Also use th ecorrect coolant, Diesels need the correct coolant, I would buy the dealer coolant. Not universal coolant from the parts store.

sweet, i've never done it but i'm sure i can figuare it out. I've replace belts on other suv's so i understand the process. what is the best kind of coolant to use? what am i looking for on the tensioner?

Buy coolant from the dealer. (3 gallons, mix it 50% water, distilled would be best) I would also buy the pump there. On the tensioner, make sure it operates smoothly without catching, its basically a pulley mounted on a spring loaded arm. make sure there is no side motion, it should just go up and down, not forward or back, check it in the middle of the motion.

Can over filling your freon on a 2006 dodge ram deisel seixe the a/c pump/compressor?

Yes it can. Also if it it is not filled properly and moisture can enter the system. When replacing the compressor the filter dryer should be replaced and the system will need to be evacuated and charged with the proper refrigerant and oil .
