Check the blower motor, resister, resister will screw next to the blower motor on the housing.

Where is the heater blower relay located on a 1997 Chev. S-10 Blazer


It's located on the blower motor. If you can see the blower motor it's right there. That controls your fan speed. Hope this helps.

1992 chevy C1500: Heat works on low speed, no medium, and high only works intermittantly.


On any other vehicle it sounds like the blower fan switch.
The fan switch provides power or ground to the resistor and there would be a high speed blower relay to bypass the resistor.
But in your case the fan switch is part of the controller.
I don't have a diagram for a 92 but the 94 model shows relays for low medium and high speeds. Each relay gets power from a fuseable link. The high relay gets power thru the low relay if the low relay is not engaged.
If you have the model with 3 relays you may need to check them.

My heater fan does not work on high in my 91 cutlass calais. works on all other settings. anyone got an idea? already checked wiring....

Heater on my envoy only works on 3-4 setting, could that be the switch.


Thanks for the opportunity to let me help. The blower control switch in your vehicle also uses a blower relay. This relay is generally located on the firewall on the passenger side near the heater fan. You can also look in you vehicle owners manual for the location of the blower relay, it may be also be located in the fuse and relay box under the hood. Generally speaking if the highest setting doesn't work on a GM vehicle it is a high blower Relay. This item is not expensive and can be purchased at most all you local Auto parts stores. If you have a Napa, Orielly's, or AutoZone these stores will also likely help you in the location if you are unable to locate this relay. Here is a general picturepepsiman1967.jpg The installation of this relay is either to remove from the fuse box, or if located near the heater fan housing then you will need to remove the mounting screws, remove the wiring clip, then reverse to install. I have 91 Toyota camry & just recently my fan blower on works on high, the medium and low functions don't work. Is there something wrong with my fan blower?


No.

Probably not. If it runs on high, it is probably good.
Unless is sounds slow or 'tight' on high, or squeaks or chips , etc. Run the fan with the engine off and then shut the fan off and listen and see if you can hear how long it takes to slow down. If it stops in just a second or two, the bearings are tight (dry). If it spins down normally, maybe three to eight seconds or more, the motor is fine. You really don't need this check.

It is most likely your blower relay.
Most cars have one or two relays to control the fan motor, which is a single speed motor that the relays and speed switch and blower resistor control the power to.

One relay is for high speed, also switch contact.
One relay is for other speeds and divert current through a blower resistor located by the fan duct under the dash or under the hiid by the fan.
Also the switch contacts for each speed.

It cad be the dash switch, which has to handle the blower resistor current for all the lower speeds is burned out at those speeds.
It can be the low speed blower relay, as I mention above, is burned out, this is most frequent cause.
it can be the blower resistor is burned out, this can give no low speeds, or loose speeds below a certain speed setting.

Try you manual for the blower relays' positions. Try swapping with the horn relay to test if it is the same type of relay.
Take out the blower resistor carefully (pretend you are defusing a bomb or playing "operation" game as it has exposed coils that are delicate and if you bump the sides of the opening as you extract it you will damage it and short the coils against each other). the wire coils are very fine bare wire coils that look like springs and if touching can burn out.
Switch is harder to test because hard to get at, check the other things first.
You should be able to test for voltages at the resistor plug to see if power is coming from the switch, but wiring schemes can vary.
Post back or use shop manual to troubleshoot the switch.

If the fuse is good,check to see if there is voltage to the blower motor,if there is,replace the blower motor.Sometimes,not always,if you bump the blower motor,it will start working,if this happens,then the blower motor is bad,if it does not,the fan switch could be bad,but the relay is usally near the blower motor.Testing it with a test light is the best way to test it,ground one end of the test light,the other end has a point on it.Use the piont of the test light to touch all the legs on the relay,with the key on,and the fan on high.The test light will light up,on almost all the legs,but it will also activate the relay when you touch the right leg of the relay,the relay needs to stay plugged up as you do this.If you can not access the legs of the relay,because of a skirt on the relay,push the point of the relay into the wire that you are testing,or into the plug,near the leg of the relay.The legs I am refuring to,are the prongs on the relay.If the relay clicks and turns the fan on,when you touch the right one,then the fan,and the relay are good,it will be the blower fan switch.Now if you already have high,blower fan,and the lower speeds are the problem,replace the blower resister,It is mounted right next to the blower motor,and has about 7 wires plugged into it.

Blower motor doesn't work and has no power to it


Check the blower multispeed control resistor pack is not faulty.
The resistor pack is usually located in the air ducting, in the blower fan airflow.
Basically, +12v power is supplied (via fuse) to the fan speed control switch, which then passes via the selected speed control resistor, to the fan motor. Often a interface relay is used to switch the blower motor high current.

Either the switch, relay or blower resistor has failed. I would check resistor and relay first. The resistor is a flat usually brown item attached by two screws to the blower box, usually fairly close to the blower fan. the relay is usually just upstream from there. Unless the switch feels sloppy, it's probably OK. If you can't locate these items, get a manual. It will help you with this and lots of other stuff!!

Vent fan only works when set to 4


Hi.....
On your Vehicle the problem for the FAN speed is NOT the FAN switch.
99.9 % of this problem on cars is the BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR.
The blower motor resistor give the speed to the Fan.
But on High speed the switch make a By pass of the switch using a Relay for the high speed.
The Blower motor resistor, is located Beside of the Blower motor On the passanger compartment.

If you replace the blower motor resistor you have 99.9% of this will solve your problem.
