Question about 2006 Pontiac G6

Open Question

I have a 2006 Pontiac G6 that is leaking green fluid when I run the air conditioner. It is making a loud whining noise that sounds like it's coming from the AC compressor, and the air never gets cold.

SOURCE: how to fill transmission fluid in a 2006 pontiac G6 Gt

Hi dhansohm1,

open the bonnet (hood) and look for the transmission dip stick.... it's usually got a red top.... anyway the one that goes into the gear box.....Check the level ONLY with the engine running.... If needed, fill through the same tube....

SOURCE: engine light 2006 pontiac g6(reset)

first be sure that its the engine light and not the "service" light. the service light will usually illuminate if its time for an oil change. if its the service light ur owners manual should tell u how to reset it. if its ur engine light then try disconnecting ur positive battery cable for 1 minute. that should reset ur ecm and get rid of the engine light. if the engine light comes back on then have a diagnostic scan done to determine whats causing it. SOURCE: transmission fluid for 2007 pontiac G6 GT

This car does not have a auto trans dipstick, the level can only be checked by the dealer, this is a growing trend that started with most German cars, the filter is inside the trans pan and only needs changing every 60,000 miles.

It could be a leak at the manifold, or somewhere along the exhaust system. Mine was leaking at the flex connects on the exhaust.

2007 pontiac g6 leaking fluid on drivers side

You may have an air pocket in your coolant system and it pushing fluid out, check your coolant fluid level when cold and fill to proper level then run the car for 20 min turning the heat on inside the car to allow fluid to go through the heater core, always watch temperature if it gets too hot during procedure stop and let it cool then top off fluids again and repeat till fluid level is full and air is out.

Where is the dip stick located for the transmission on a 2006 ponitac g6

Unfortunately their isn't a dipstick, their is a red cap on top for adding fluid and the way to check it is to have it running up in the air and remove a small plug from the pass side of the trans. after removing the plug with the engine running, add fluid and make sure its dexronVI , to the fill hole until it comes out of the bottom hole and thats how you check and fill it, I know it sucks..

2006 Town and Country: Loud Whinning noise when cold and a slow Power steering fluid leak.

the noise may be because your power steering fluid level is low when cold, as the fluid warms up it expands enough to stop the whine, you should have the leak checked by your favorite mechanic shop

Where do you find the power steering reservoir

Your car has an electric steering system. You probably have a hub bearing going bad. While driving with the noise happening, gently steer the car left to right several times. If the noise worsens or diminishes one or both of the hubs could be bad.

Power steering dont work to left or right

To find out witch it is,pump or rack and pinion, break loose the presure line on the power steering pump with a wench.Start the car and turn the steering wheel back and forth, you may need to loosen the nut on the power steering hose two or three turns to get the fluid to shoot out.It should come out pretty forceful. If it doesn`t,then replace the pump.If it does come out really powerful, replace the rack and pinion.
