Question about 2005 Volvo S60

1 Answer

I have a 2005 volvo s60 with 73,000 miles.I have done all scheduled maintenance.Recently I started having problems starting it in morning or after long periods of not driving it.It will turn over, but it won't catch until the second or third time.If it's warm it will catch the first time.I replaced the battery and i'm still having the same problem.Someone told me it can't be the starter because it wouldn't turn over at all. Some one else told me to replace the spark plugs. What should I do?

The fuel is running back into the tank from a leaky check valve. try just turning key to on [no cranking] and off a couple of times to build up fuel pressure. if it starts ok after that then check valve is bad [its in the pump]

SOURCE: reset prosedures for volvos

Ok when you move the key to start the car. you need the following definitions.

pos 0 equals car off
pos 1 equals acessory position
pos 2 equals run position (NOT START)
pos 3 equals start position

check your drivers information module, and see that your triip display is in trip 1 (T1)

then put your car into position 1. push and HOLD the trip reset meter. WHILE HOLDING the reset button, rotate the key to position 2. Hold the reset button until you see the triangle in the dash flash yellow. Once this starts flashing remove your finger from the reset button. Shut the car off, verify light is out. repeat once if necessary.

I am trying to find a maintenance schedule for my 2003 Passat...it has almost 130K miles on it, but everywhere I look the maintenance schedules stop at 100K. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The 100K schedule repeats continually.
What needs to be done at 50K and 100K, then needs to be repeated at 150K for example.
The schedule only needs to go out to the longest delayed item.

What does the wrench warning light mean on a 2005 for escape

It means that there is some scheduled maintenance due to be done based on the number of miles that have been driven. There should be another display giving a letter or number which indicates the maintenance due. Look under maintenance in the owners manual.

The red light with the picture of an engine stays on but the Check engine yellow light stays off I took off the battery lead and the light went out until I started up the car a second time and now it...

I'm not very familiar with your vehicle dashboard cluster, but it does sound to me like what you are seeing is a light that is programmed to come on as a reminder for regularly scheduled maintenance intervals that go by mileage, such as the oil.
Other things it might be for is tire rotation, transmission fluid and emissions control components. There then would be a procedure to follow for resetting it so the light will be off and the computer will restarting counting mileage again toward the next reminder. However, if you have recently or within the last few thousand miles have done regular maintenance and it is running normally, then you can ignore the reminder without any problems...other than the annoying light.

The RPM's fluctuate after the car warms up. I think I need a tune-up.

The maintenance tune ups, for most of the cars, are scheduled at 30K, 60K , 90K miles. If you are late on the scheduled maintenance tune up, of course your car needs it, but to find the problem you need a "Check and Advice", only at Volvo dealer. It cost $65 to $100, on the top of tune up cost.

Schedual manance list

I don't know of any schedules for specific vehicles online. The info is proprietary knowledge. Go to the Volvo dealer's parts department. Order an owner's manual. It'll come in the mail. Probably 15- 20 bucks. The maint.schedule is in there. It'll also have directions for everything on the car.

2005 Volvo S40 won't start

Check battery voltage while trying to start car.  May need new battery.  Since you just bought the car the battery may be weak from sitting at a car lot for a while.
