There really isn't a fuel filter on the '01 Rams, not like you'd have on most other vehicles anyway. The only thing filtering the fuel is a sock (yeah, a SOCK)..and it's attached to your fuel pump assembly, which is ever-so-conveniently located inside the gas tank. You _can_ buy a replacement (50-60 bucks at a dealer), but I've never talked to one yet that stock it (most dealers I've contacted about it claim they'll only sell me an entire fuel pump ($225~ give or take...)

What would cost my 2001 dodge ram to burn extra fuel on normal driving, I changed the wires, air filter and the plugs

What about a full tune-up? What you've done so far is good as far as it goes. What about spark plugs for gas engine? Did you use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and check that the pressure will hold for a bit with everything off? Check for external fuel leak?
Any more 02 sensors are part of a tune-up. I'd want to check fuel trims, if it is adding fuel, try check why?
If this is a high-mileage v8 engine, your probably not going to get good fuel mileage.

It could be low fuel pressure. Have it tested with a gauge.

What does the p1391 code on a 99 dodge ram 1500 5.2l v8 meen

check engine light and code P1391 crank or cam position sensor

The above can cause rough idle on the Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L V8 Engine.

Can try to replace the sensor, but verify that the wires are ok first.

Check engine light

A multi misfire may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plug or wires, Faulty coil (pack), Faulty oxygen sensor(s), Faulty fuel injector(s), Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages, Faulty camshaft position sensor, Defective computer.

The engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wire, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.

Good luck and hope this information helps, keep me posted, be glad to help you get the truck running 100% again. Not sure if your running a K&N air filter, and if you are there may be a flim of oil on the MAF sensor that is making you run lean. You may want to spray down the MAF sensor with a can of MAF cleaner.

there may be a software update for the powertrain control module for mis-fire monitor. check with your local dealer. but if thats not the case, these engines are known at least in my experience of having the heads crack between the valves and cause mild mis-fires. try compression testing all the cylinders and performing a leakdown test on them as well.

Hi
Check for plugged exhaust system. If plugged will cause overheating and misfiring of all cylinders.
