Replacement of igniton switch

Lower the steering column by removing the mounting bolts under the dash. Look on top side of column for the switch, it will have a metal rod going to it. unplug the connectors, use tape to hold rod in place, and remove mounting screws. Installation is reverse of removal.
Removed, it looks like this:

How do you know if a fuel saftey switch is bad?

First you have to be in an accident for it to open
& stop current flow to fuel pump

Second if you turn the igniton switch on & hear the
fuel pump, the switch is closed & good, common sense

Third just put your meter to ground & probe both side of
the wiring to sw, with the key on,to prove out the switch
is closed

Could disconnect the battery & use the beep feature
& test across the switch

How do i change igniton switch on 1995 lincoln continental

turn the switch forward to the run position and then there is an access hole under the column to fit a 1/8 drill bit push up on the retaining pin turn the key forward and back and you can tell if you have the pin, return it to the run position and pull out on cylinder. If your looking to replace the switch its on the column and its easier to drop the column to replace it.

Ignition switch does not shut off motor

The connection between the Lock cylinder and the Ignition switch has come apart. There is pin that holds it together where the column tilts to allow for the tilt. The bad thing is the column needs to be completely disassembled to fix it, or replace the column with one from a salvage yard. The pin that falls out is usually still inside the column if you take it apart.
