Question about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My jeep wont start. it sounds like it wants to turn over but it wont. it has gas it has power going to the starter and you can hear it crank over and over again. someone told me it might be the fuel pump so i dropped the tank and swapped out the old pump with a new one and its doing the same thing as before.

I am not sure where it is on a 2000 Cherokee.... But there is a fuel pump relay. Usually under the hood on the drivers side. You might replace it. But first I would get some starting fluid and spray in the air filter. If it starts then it is FOR SURE a fuel problem. If so then there should be a relay in the block next to the fuel pump relay to swap to test.

I hope this helps! If so PLEASE check YES!!! Thanks!

Spray a little bit of starting fluid in the throttle body it will start that means the injectors are not firing no power at injectors = bad crank sensor on top of driver side bell housing auto parts store has them about 40 dollars make sure you push and hold the new sensor in while you tighten the bolt they have a few thousands of an inch of adjustment on them and it makes a difference you will start but get miss fire codes like p0306 p0303 if it is not in all the way hope this helps you please rate my solution

wont crank?
or cranks ok but wont start, why not answer that first.?

which engine? there are 3. or 4.
gas or diesel.
what country.
if gas engine, (wild guess) get it tuned up in last 8 years?
if not why not, even just spark plugs,
no spark plug lasts the life of any engine, so... is serviced,
for 100 years now. same deal.

I cant hear you cranking your engine
nobody hear can, videos work post that if you have never heard the sound of a normal starter running.

1999 jeep cherokee sport cranks wont crank

Most likely is intermittent in starter solenoid relay

Next most likely is key switch start connection intermittent. a tester will have to be used to find where the power is being lost from the start terminal of ignition switch to starter solenoid pilot connection to the main starter output power from solenoid to starter main contactor.

2004 jeep grand cherokee wont start at all

Check you battery terminals first. If they look clean clean them again with a wire brush. Then check battery voltage. You should have 12 to 12.5 volts. While cranking (starting engine) your voltage should drop to no more than 9.5 volts. If it does go below 9.5 then get a new battery. If all that checks out, then check for power to the activation wire to you starter. It should be the small wire. If you get no power there while cranking then you have a problem somewhere in the wiring possibly the starter relay. BUT if you do get power there then sorry sounds like you were sold a bunk starter.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee wont start ???

sounds like a bad fuel pump. open the gas cap and listen when you turn the key to the on position, not all the way to engage the starter, you should hear a buzzing for 5 or so secands that is the fuel pump in your gas tank. if you dont hear that buzzing the intank fuel pump is probley not working.

Jeep 06 libary will not start ,starter good and battary good what the probable

Do you mean it cranks but won't start?
Check for spark at a spark plug wire. If you have spark, it's probably not the ignition, but a fuel issue. Do you hear the pump come on briefly when key is turned to on? You may need to stand by the gas tank with the cap off, while someone turns the key on. The pump should hum or whirr for about 2 seconds to prime the fuel system. Then it will shut off until car is cranked over. If the pump and the ignition is working, check fuel pressure.
If you had no spark, it could be the coil, or crank position sensor, or...well, you would have to diagnose the ignition system.
If the problem is not cranking over, check all connections at starter and battery for a clean tight connection. Check for power at the starter solenoid when key is held in crank position. If power there, the solenoid must be bad. If no power the circuit from ignition switch to the starter solenoid has a problem ( like the starter relay or the neutral safety switch).
Good luck.

Where is the carburetor on my 93 mercury topaz?

There isn't a carberator on your 93 mercury topaz. It is new enough to have electronic fuel injection (EFI).
When you say it wont crank, does that mean the starter wont turn the engined over? Or do you mean it wont start?
If the starter turns the engine and it wont start here's a trick that might work. Turn the ignition key to on but don't engage starter. Listen for a buzzing sound coming from underneath the vehicle near gas trank. The buzzing sound is the fuel pump pumping up pressure. The buzzing sound might last only one to two seconds. Then turn ignition key off and turn it on again NOT engaging the starter several more times. This will help prime the fuel up to the engine. After you've done this several times, the engine should start. Lt me know if I was any help.

I'm having the same problem w/my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lerado v8. Got a new battery & it would crank but not start, acted like it was out of gas. I had to reset the security alarm system by turning...

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. I don't think your security system is the problem? At the starter motor two voltage circuits, one is fuse protected and is hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the start position and relay is energized. Any testing at relay or starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.

Starter spins but dose not turn over

If you can hear it spin(starter), but not actually hear the motor turning over or trying to crank/start..... Sounds like starter not engaging-Replace starter. Small possibility flywheel is damaged, but less likely.

Bad solenoid i would guess. Not making a connection there. Any basic wiring and ignition switch problems should be alleviated by jumping the starter with a screwdriver. I would check the solenoid and starter brushes
