How do you remove a cvaxle from a 2000 4runner

To remove the axle, the large nut on the axle end has to be removed, and lower part of the wheel and hub needs some dismantling, so hub can swing out enough to remove axle end from it.
If you are going to do it, buy a repair manual for the car. The procedure will be a bit long, and you need to know exactly how it is done on the 4runner. Haynes repair manuals are about $26, well worth it if you do any maintenance and repair yourself.

How to replace a rear wheel bearing on a toyota hi ace1985

The axle is easy to remove "compared to other makes"

The only hard part in this is getting the bearing off and the new one on. Typically the old bearing is nearly destroyed in removal, but used later on a large bearing press to press the new bearing on.

to remove the axle:

place car on a level surface, block front and rear of the front wheels. jack up the side that needs the new bearing and proceed to remove the wheel. remove the brake drum to access the axle nuts behind the hub. Remove the hydraulic brake line and the E-brake cable. remove the 4x '14mm' bolts via the hole in the axle hub. Have a drain pan handy 'chances are it will spill some gear oil from the axle' the axle should slide out with ease. If not, lightly tap the axle with a hammer 'dont go crazy with the hammer, you may bend something' if the axle does not come out, you will have to rent an axle puller from a local auto parts store.

Please rate. =)

Left rear axle leaking - Dealer states $820 to fix due to many parts within the axle. Does this sound right?

fix same problem myself...these's' only 1 inner seal (differential output seal only-about 10$ each) that needs to be replace and new brake shoes (20$ part)..assumed u have rear drums and it leaked diff fluid on the brake shoes..but, i also replaced the brake cylinder (15$ part)-u have to disconnect brake cylinder to remove axle..look on internet for procedures.. this helps..all dealers are ripoffs-worked at toyota for a year

Front wheel drive not engaging in high or low, making ratcheting noise in right side front when in gear. Cause?

It sounds like your 4WD is engaging but the hubs on your front axle are not. Do you have locking hubs on the front axle or are they automatic?

How do auto hubs come off of a 95 4runner

there are screws that hold the cap of the hub cap on, then there are screws that hold the actual hub cap onto the axle under there. take the cap off first, then you can take the hub off

Rear differential noise

replacing rear axle bearings needs disassembling but only up to the back plate of your brake system. you dont need to disassemble the third member. Just pull the axle shaft. Normal mechanic tools wont suffice. youll need a press machine to do this job.
