If your going to keep a 13 year old veh ,you may want to consider switching out the air suspension, with strut masters.

You need to have a basic leak down test done through the spark plug fitting in each cylinder to see where the compression is going.

For each cylinder, set the piston at Top Dead Center.
  • Hook the tester hose directly into the spark plug hole.
  • Hook the leak down tester up to the compressed air hose and zero the pressure.
  • Hook the tester to the hose and take your reading.
You can check where the pressure is going for that particular cylinder by listening for where the air is escaping.
  • If you remove the oil cap and hear a lot of air escaping, the rings are worn and that's where your compression loss is.
  • If you hear it coming out of the intake, the intake valve isn't sealing.
  • If you hear it coming out the tail pipe, the exhaust valve is leaking.
  • If you take the radiator cap off and see air bubbles coming out, you have a combustion leak into the cooling system.

    So have the test carried out on each cylinder and you can pin point the issue in each of the 2 which have tested bad with low compression.

if your up to the task remove the spark plug and pressurize the cylinder with a compression tester and an air line. listen for air leak through the intake or exhaust. this will indicate valve issue. if air is comming out of oil cap this is piston or ring issue

The water pump is in the front of the engine, so probably a heater hose or some ther part of the cooling system. Also, you didn't say which engine but some have a cover in the back of the cylinder head that can leak.

Check Engine Light on Yr2001 Ford Escape V-6 2wd. Code says: Misfire on cylinder #5. Dealer said compression is low in cylinder #5. This Escape needs to pass smog. What can we do?

If the engine has a P0305 DTC (Data Trouble Code) for a "cylinder 5 mis-fire detected", then the first thing to do is to do a compression test to determine if the mis-fire is actually being caused by a mechanical problem, or an electronic problem.

If the engine really does have low compression on the #5 cylinder then that is caused by a mechanical mis-fire and nothing electronic will repair it, and the most common causes for a mechanical mis-fire would be a burnt or bent intake or exhaust valve, a warped cylinder head or damaged head gasket, or a damaged piston. You can call around and find a repair shop that will do a "compression leak down test" if you want to know exactly what is causing the compression leak without any dis-assembly to the engine.

1997 ford f-150 starts then backfires thru intake and then shuts off.

most likely the feul pump. test the feul pressure with a gauge. look of ther little metal feul line on the intale manifold. tst pressure. have freind listen at the rear of the truck for the pump prime. key on only. then start the truck, friend should hear pump running. could also need a timming chain but pump is more tlikely

Compressor doesnt run.

There is a pressure switch on the accumulator. The compressor cyles according to the low pressure reading at the accumulatror. If there is low refridgerent pressure the switch stays "OFF" and wont turn ther compressor on. Whan a system is low, there will be rapid cycling of the compressor, (on and off every few seconds). When the system is charged with the correct amount, the pressure is related to the temperature of the refridgerent. The compressors are common to leak. So it it doesnt leak, or make knocking noises, the compreesor MAY be good, but a pressure gauge will tell you if the compressor is good or bad. If you keep having to charge it, thats bad, and there is a leak. You will need to find and repair the leak, replace the drier (accumulator) , and recharge the system.

E39 touring 2003 front wipers are working but water is not comin from the washers. i can hear that motor is running, back wiper is fine. what could be the problem

The jet is probably blocked. Remove the pipe from the jets and see if water comes from the pipe. If it does, blow the jets free using compressed air, normally you can use the local garage tyre inflater, or a friendly repair garage will give them a squirt for free.
If water doesn't come through when you test, then the pipe may be blocked or even split. If blocked you can take it off and blow free using your mouth, and if split just replace.

Air conditioning not working. Blowing cool air in the back and hot air in the front.

Is there air blowing from the front vents? or can you hear the vacumm change when you change it from heat to cool..... I think it might be a vacumm problem... its a 1997 so the controller vacumm hoses may be cracking.. let us know
