Question about 1996 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 96 Honda Accord with 180k. What is happening more and more is that when I push down the clutch and turn the key I just get a click. If I do this again and again it eventually starts. I have tried just holding the clutch down and repeatedly turning the key and I have tried keeping the key turned and repeatedly lifting and depressing the clutch. It always ends up starting but this is happening more frequently and taking longer to start.

Turn key on, but doesnt even click. battery and starter are fine

This may be due to a bad neutral safety switch, is this car automatic or manual transmission?

If automatic try to start in neutral and if manual try to locate switch on clutch pedal and use a jumper wire to jump connector for switch, NOTE; If switch is jumped car will start in gear with pedal not pushed down and car will take off so this is just as a test not a repair!!!!!, good day

I cannot get the key to go into my honda accord 2004. Any suggestions?

Make sure its the correct key first try another lock with it, i know it sounds silly but it happens. if its really cold where you are at the lock might be frozen get a hair dryer and aim it at the lock. Also sometimes if the car isnt all the way in park or in neutral or clutch pushed in if it has one the ignition switch will act funny and not work.

96 accord - turn key, nothing happens. bad ignition switch? help!

Could be.

Also the jiggling thing could be a coincidence. :0)

Tell me this.... when you turn the key, do you hear a CLICK?? If so your starter is probably bad.

96 manual honda accord- problems shifting into reverse

Is the tranny just hard to put into reverse? Check with mechanic and see if you need clutch adjusted. Also try pushing down on the shifter to bypass the safety. Most have to be pushed down from the top of the shifter in order to go in to reverse.

98 Accord DX clicks once when key is turned, eventually starts

Check battery terminals and make sure they are free of corrosion and are tightly secure on battery. If all is good it may be the stater that's sticking. or maybe clutch safety switch on clutch pedal is going bad. Good Luck contact me if you need more help
