Heres a way to save you a lot of time. remove the two bolts that hold the master cylinder to booster, leave all brake lines connected, pull master away as far as it will go, you may have to pull on the line some, next go inside and remove the pin to remove the rod from brake pedal, you can let brake switch stay, back to booster, remove vacuum line from booster, back inside the car remove the 4 nuts that hold the booster to firewall, make sure rood is clear, go out and pull booster out and remove, install new booster make sure rod hooks to pedal before bolting it up, because sometimes the rod may go in the wrong direction, reverse directions to install, when your done theres no need to bleed brake system. hope this helps.

I have a 2000 Buick Lesabre Limited, can someone tell me how to replace the the brake master cylinder?

disconnect the brake lines from the master, undo any wire connection to the master, then unbolt the nuts that hold it to the power brake booster and remove. keep in mind that brake fluid is corrosive and will damage painted surfaces.

HArd brake pedal and low stopping power after changing brake booster

I had my power brake booster go bad and I replaced mine as well as bleed the brakes that when I went and tried them out 'I slammed on my breaks early before getting to close to the light' that my car left skid marks all over that road because the brakes worked like power brakes should and yours sound like your booster was installed wrong or the pads are bad or you didn't bleed all the air out of the line. Your problem you described was like it felt before I replace brake booster ie lousy non power brakes when I had power brakes.

, apower brakes have no pressure when pedal pushed, no brake line leaks, pushes hard when engine turned off acts like power assist is leaking thru

I would check the medium sized rubber hose that goes to the brake booster from the inlet manifold as it can swell internally and prevent vacuum getting to the power booster. Replace if necessary. I would also check all those pesky little rubber vacuum hoses that are used for pollution control. They tend to go hard and split where they connect to the metal piping if they are over 10 years old, allowing air / vacuum leaks into the inlet manifold. It could also mean that the rubber diaphragm inside the brake booster has developed a leak and causing loss of power assistance.

Check the rear brakes, they are out of adjustment,or need replacing ,most likely are worn out,the a b s will not function if there is no function of the rear brakes.

Engine looses power when brake is pressed

Disconnect hose from booster and plug it. Do not drive. Now test for lost power to rule out booster. Remove and clean all of the battery cables and replace bolts. The tail lights use a good bit of power and this may be a simple fix as the cables give a good bit of problems on these buicks.

1992 F250 intermitton lose of power brakes while driving

Are you sure that your truck does not use a hydrovac unit rather than a traditional power brake booster unit? The hydrovac unit runs off a pump hydraulically. These go out and cause you to loose the power brake effect. They are very expensive to replace. You would be looking at about $450.00 to replace.
