Question about 2004 GMC Envoy
It sounds like your shifter cable came loose. the end piece came out that connects to your transmission. you will have to jack up the car and manually shift it back to park and then either replace your shifter cable which is 85$ or so just for parts or use a shifter cable replacement kit which runs for about 20 bucks online. http://www.atfspeed.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=21&zenid=g5830qsioo71fb0bsjtjne2cs6 the cable will only be sold by a dealer

I had a similar problem and the cup holder was replaced under warranty. Looks like the pop up mechanism is broken...bad design
