cam timing, i replaced my waterpump, but had a hell of a time with the camshaft pulley. a friend came over to help me, got the pulley off but i noticed the marks i put on the belt and on thegears are no where to be found.

  • marniehyde Aug 31, 2010

i would much rather make sure its right then to find out its not right after its together.

Its always better to tell the whole story up front. I hope you are replacing the idler and tensioner pullies, and cam and cranshaft oil seals also. The pullies are marked with the timing mark,, they line up with the plate behind the pulley. the crank gear has a mark that matches the front of the oil pump

How to replace o rings in oil filter cooler 1994 Toyota camry 2200ltr

what is the question, my guess is how to buy them
as replacing them is obvious.
right.?
lets to go Toyota.com and look, (amazing and free trip)

some toy sites are PITA hard to navigate, (must have account there)
but not here , thank Deity.
there are 6 models.
i roll dice , DX

is this a stock part? or add on, if add on, impossible,
take it to any store (auto) and get generic rings that fit and are rated for hot oil usage.

if stock , i used google search for you,(ever try that?)
and land here.
does this answer the question.

you do this, you pick year, sub model,. DX
and exact 5S-FE engine, there are 2
and then buy the parts.
how to remove them (you just pull em. for o-rings i use a tooth pick
so i dont, damage, machined surfaces... hint.....

What are the timing marks for a 1996 toyota camry, 2.2

2S-ELC, 3S-FE and 5S-FE Engines

When install,
align the crankshaft pulley set key with the pulley key groove. Install the pulley. Tighten the pulley bolt to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm).

On 2S-ELC engines, turn the crankshaft pulley and align the 0 mark on the lower (No. 1) timing belt cover.
Align the camshaft knock pin with the matchmarks on the oil seal retainer.

On 2S-ELC/USA engines, align the knock pin with the pin hole on the timing pulley E mark side. On 2S-ELC/Canadian engines, align the knock pin with the pin hole on the timing pulley.

On 3S-FE and 5S-FE engines, align the knock pin with the groove of the pulley, and slide the pulley onto the camshaft with the plate washer and set bolt.
