The intake manifold is located under the fuel injection. It is on the top center of the engine. It is between the heads. If you need a better explanation you can email me at vetteman3002@gmail.com

Coolant temperature sensor location on 97 ford expedition

I believe they are located in the intake manifold somewhere. Make sure the one that tells the computer the coolant temp is ACTUALLY giving out the correct temperature. I had a bad one one time in a 1993 Ford F-150, 5.8L....... no check engine light came on but hard to start. The bad sensor was telling the computer it was 32 degrees F when it was almost 80 degrees outside.!!
Garbage in=Garbage out.

Here is a video link from Youtube. There are 2 sensors, 1 for the guage and the other tells the on-board computer how hot/cold the coolant is. The one for the guage has 1-wire and the other one has 2 wires.
Hope this helps, ask more if you need to. What kind of problem are you having? No heat inside? Guage needle not getting into the normal area?

2001 ford expedition has is missing

At one time there was a problem with a Radiator hose clamp on the engine side. The clamps were improperly installed and a small amount of Antifreeze would run onto the coilpak, short and crack it, and then short out a sparkplug wire. If the "Check Engine Light" is not on yet the clamp is a good place to start. Then look for water staining on the electric parts.

Both Autozone and Oreillys do courtesy scans for free. Even if the problem light is not on, you may catch something on a scan. If no luck with the scan, try using a spray bottle of water around the intake manifold gasket and vacuum lines. Do this with the engine running. Any gaps will draw in water and affect the engine speed. This will indicate loose manifold bolts, bad gaskets, and bad vacuum lines.

1997 4.6 v8 ford expedition runs rough and check engine light is on what is causing the problem

You can get a free scan at Autozone or Oreillys. There are many things it can be, but the diagnostic system in your vehicle will identify the part or group that is malfunctioning.

One thing you can check is the intake manifold directly under the Airhorn. Usually this will show a "insufficent EGR flow" and Code 401. There is a groove beneath the gasket that needs cleaning. Its 8 bolts and a $10 gasket to fix. The diagnostic computer misses the real problem and blames parts for not opening instead of being plugged. It can be other things too, so have the scan anyway.

Ford Expedition won't stay running in cold weather

it could be many things it could be a bad EGR - valve are a vaccum leak or a bad fuel injection or engine control systems malfunction on my 2000- Expedition i replace the intake manifold itself and the gasket the best thing to do if its that is to get the whole thing from Napa with gaskets its not that hard to do go to your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your SUV also give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com wish you the best of luck and let me know what it was Michigan Man.

Coolant is leaking around intake manifold and temp gauge is not working on my 2000 chevy malibu 3.4 litre

the manifold gasket must be shot on the manifold. usually when the gasket goes bad it puts oil into the coolant, as far as the guage not working. it must be the thermostat is bad, it probably went bad because of the manifold gasket. I have a 3.1 and the gasket went bad, so I changed it and the thermostat at the time I had it torn down. check to see if the coolant has oil in it. the best thing to do is go to any auto parts store and buy a haynes manual for your specific vehicle, this is based on a complete teardown of vehicle, the book will describe the procedure to change manifold gasket. but if you change the gasket do not forget to replace thermostat and coolant when done. best of luck Toolman,

first cylinder 4 is the last on the passenger side . first pull the coil out and check if there is water where the plug is. if there is take the water out and dry up the coil. if you find water you got a crack manifold or a bad intake manifold gasket. if there is no water replace the coil. good luck
