Hi, My name is David i'll be assiting you:

To answer your question the Electric Cooling Fans will not interchange,With out modifications.I don't recommend trying to use the Neon Fan Assembly in Place of your PT Cruisers.

The Mounting and the Sensors Plus are Completly different.

I hope this has helped you make the right choice. Please let me know how you made out by voting.

96 neon overheating

Do some simple checks. First check the coolant level while the car is cool and off. With the car still off remove the radiator cap. Then start the car up. The antifreeze should not bubble or over flow with in 3 minutes of idling. If that's ok put the cap back on securely, Then see if the electrical fans turn on when it gets just above operating temp. Usually if you turn on the ac that will let you know if they are working. If all of these check are good. Then replace the thermostat. If the fluid bubbles out with the cap removed when it's cold and running. It's usually a bad cylinder head gasket or a cracked cylinder head. If the fans do not ingage check the fan relay and electrical wiring.

Make sure your radiator fan is working or cutting on.It could be a faulty fan relay or fuse and it could also be a faulty coolant temperature sensor.

My 1997 dodge neon sohc is overheating while ideling but goes back to normal when running the fans are running even when ideling and there is anti freeze

So the car only overheats at idle? How many miles on the car? What fan are you referring to - the heater fan or the cooling fan for the radiator? It sounds like you may have a plugged up radiator. If the engine has high mileage the radiator may have accumulated enough junk over the years to become restricted. Some automotive technicians have a laser that they can use to check the radiator for cool spots, which would indicate internal blockage.

1998 neon keeps overheating mostly when idleing...the theromostat has been replaced twice and radiator replaced about 1 year ago

is the cooling fan working when it should be.if so then you could have a water pump problem or a head gasket problem.

Ac runs hot

If the electrical cooling fan for the AC condensor is operating, I'd just try adding a can of R134 to your system. It isn't costly and it may have just fallen too far to be effective. The coolant molecules are so small, hardly any system remains tight enough over the 8-9 years you have used the car to avoid some losses.
If the fan isn't operating, you need to find out if the fan motor is at fault or a relay isn't turning the fan on with the AC.

Radiator electric cooling fan cycles on and off every few seconds

Had the same problem with a Neon same age as yours. Mine started after driving through a large snow storm that packed snow under the hood. Turned out there is a relay or sensor for the fan that had to be replaced. Once this was done the problem was fixed.
