Does the 88 grand marquis have an ABS brake system? Mine has a large circular drum behind the master cylinder up against the fire wall and a circular cylinder device under the master cylinder. It has a bleed screw in it.

The whole assembly has the brake line adapters, master cylinder, reservoir and the power brake booster (the large circular part that connects into the firewall). If you are referring to the coils in the brake lines, they are there to make the difference between the front brake lines and rear brake lines closer to the same distance allowing more even braking on all four wheels.

Master cylinder location

The brake master cylinder is on the firewall behind the steering wheel, in the engine compartment. The brake booster, right behind it, is a large circular chamber that the brake master cylinder is attached to with 2 bolts

Abs light and brake light constantly on, on dash board and there's no power brakes,

Your abs brake fluid pump has stopped working. It is located underneath the brake master cylinder / reservoir. There are two large brake fluid hoses that go from the reservoir to the pump under neath. Some times you can take a pipe (or metal rod) and a hammer, place the rod against the body of the pump and tap it a couple of times while the car motor is running. If it comes back to life you will hear the classic buzz of the ABS brakes as is builds up pressure. If it still does not work you will have to replace it . I got lucky and picked up a cheap one at the salvage yard for $10 . New or used expect to pay a lot more. It has one mounting bolt on the transmission, one multi-wire plug, and two brake fluid hoses with hollow bolts. Changing out the pump is not too bad. You do have to follow the instructions on top of the master cylinder reservoir to fill and bleed the system after the install.

Stiffness of brakes and barley working

Double check the level in the master cylinder. If this is full the most probable is the vacuum booster. This is the large black cylinder directly behind the master cylinder which is operated by vacuum which when you apply mechanical pressure to the brake system, the vacuum assists you by pulling and making it easier to apply the brakes. If you can "stand" on the pedal and the vehicle stops, this is a most likely cause. 1 thing you can do to verify is to first locate the one and only vacuum line going to the booster and make sure there is no holes or no "hissing" caused by a vacuum leak. Let me know if you need further assistance or directions to replace.

Where is the ABS control module located on a dodge caravan

Below the Brake Master Cylinder and slightly back towards the Fire Wall. Should have multiple brake lines running into it.
Hint: Most people want to replace these. Alot of times the connections are merely corroded or have build up on the conductors or in the conductor "pits". Clean both and check before going to the expense of replacing. I did and it worked and saved me $$ not having to replace.

Need Break Booster Replaced

The brake booster/ naster cylinder is located on the firewall on the drivers side of the vehicle. The master cylinder has a resivour (sp) which has a cap and holds brake fluid. The brake booster is right behind that, the master cylinder is bolted right to the booster. The booster looks like a big circle about 10 to 12 inches round and usually 4 to 6 inches thick. It will have a vaccum hose coming off the booster and going to the intake manifold. The master cylinder with have hard lines coming off it which are brake lines. Hope this helps.

2001 Mercury Grand Marquis brake and ABS dash lights on and off

The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.
