Question about 1995 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

1995 dodge caravan. 135K miles. Let sit for a number of months. battery dead. Tried jump start, does't turn over at all. Not even clicking sound of starter. Disconnected battery and connected directly to another car to jump start (took old car battery out of equation). No change. When tried to jump start, car electrical system makes a routine clicking sound, lights come on and off, and emergency lights also come on/off. Know it isn't battery issue now. Could be it be the starter relay or the auto shutdown relay? Have radio, lights, clock....but they pulse on/off. Car won't turn over at all. This is true regardless of whether it is hooked to its old battery or directly to another car's battery.

look at connection to your starter. sometimes the positive cable works loose due to driving conditions. I had same problem with a Suzuki it only did it in cold weather but I ended up replacing the starter.

It sounds like a starter to me, the starter does funny things, it will get to the point when even jumping it like you did wont work anymore, there is a dead spot in it, even jumping the van will make it start sometimes, this is a bad starter,Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight and connections on the starter are the same clean and tight and if so then replace the starter.i have had them removed and tested and the would run and test good but were bad, good day.

2004 Dodge Caravan with 3.3 ltr eng. Won't start,

This sounds like a classic bad connection either at the battery or engine ground. Check and recheck all your connections and be sure they are clean and tight.

Starter Problems?

I would suggest that you check your battery cable connections and where they are connected to , and clean them.. especially the ground cable (black). It sounds like you have a "connection" problem

Will not start

The clicking noise is usually the sign of a dead battery. No gauges or noise could mean a REALLY dead battery. Check battery connections to make sure they are clean and tight. Have u tried to jump start it? U can take the battery to a parts store where most will check it's condition for free. So check this 1st and let me know what u find. If that's not it, we can continue.
