what causes the fault code (i.e. the problem) my fuel pressure is 56 when it tries to start, my fuel pressure is 56 when it does finally start and my fuel pressue is 53 when its runnin. I disconnect the battery, reconnect the battery, recheck codes, and there are none. I try to start the truck, it won't start, ( it sounds like its gonna for a second but doesn't) after cycling the key and trying to start it, it starts after the 5th or 6th attempt. when i shut if off and recheck the codes, there's a code 54. WHY?

Code 54 = No cam sync signal @ PCM. There is no fuel sync (camshaft signal) detected during engine cranking. The procedures listed below are not fool proof. I have had sensors test ok, but were actually defective. Please rate my solution.

  1. Remove the ECM fuse to prevent the engine from starting. Removal of the ECM fuse does not disable the sensor power supply and allows testing of this sensor safely.
  2. Disconnect the CMP sensor wiring harness and attach suitable jumper wires between the CMP sensor and CMP sensor harness. Connect a DC volt meter to the jumper wires corresponding to CMP IGN or PWR terminal and sensor ground.
  3. With the ignition ON and the engine off, verify that the voltage is approximately battery voltage. The supply voltage should be slightly less than battery voltage.
  4. If not as specified, repair or replace the fuse and/or wiring.
  5. Connect a DC volt meter to the jumper wires corresponding to CMP signal terminal and sensor ground.
  6. Place a socket and breaker bar or the crankshaft pulley bolt and rotate the engine slowly by hand. Observe the volt meter and verify that the voltage signal varies from approximately zero volts to slightly less than supply voltage. The voltage will switch on when the target passes the sensor and will show little or no voltage when the target is past the sensor.
  7. If it is not as specified, the CMP sensor may be faulty.

Hi, code 54 = Fuel pump circuit voltage too low.

After fixing the problem, you need to clear the code by removing power to ECU for 30 seconds.

These code came straight from the repair manual

I have a 1993 chevy blazer and it shifts hard in every gear.I think it mihgt be vacume but not shur.please help

Not vacumm controlled anymore.Hard shifts are caused by high line pressure. you may have a trouble code stored in the computer and transmissions code back then did not always turn the check engine light on.A stored code will trigger high line pressure. You could have a bad force motor and this was common for 93 and 94, infact gm changed the solenoid and you will need to buy the late design if needed.I would start by having a shop pull the codes.

94 chevy Blazer full size throws serpentine belt once in a while?

Have you checked the pulley alignment? do any of the pulleys have excessive play in the bearings they ride on? these are the reasons for the belt coming off, there is no other.

Either your fuel pressure regulator or your fuel pump itself is bleeding off.Try cycling the key in the morning on and off 3 times to see if the truck starts easier.

2001 Chevy Blazer has check engine light on and hard to start.

Try IAC the idle air control because its what compensates a rich or lean mixture. There is another sensor called ECT sensor which reads off the tempature of the coolant

Why is my 1994 Chevy S10 Blazer lugging? motor shakes and lugs.

Could be vacuum leak or bad ignition wire(s).

I had a similar problem on my "93 Ford probe. The engine idled pretty rough with shakes, Turned out to be a head gasket leaking engine coolant into the cylinder during low rpm's. At fast rpm's it was fine becuase the internal cylinder pressure was greater than the hot coolant pressure & would prevent the coolant from leaking in.

A friend has the same problem with his "94 Blazer 4.3 L, throttle body injection, manual tranny. He hasn't fixed it yet, It started a few weeks ago & is getting worse. His gets a fast idle with hiccups which causes the engine shake. He already checked the EGR valve. He also has a severe exhaust problem, Not oilly but very gray & terrible smelly, but only when the fast idle problem happens. THis fast idle hiccup problem starts when the engine is warmed up.
