No, the computer looks at this information. It also needs to see it to go into "closed loop" as in after warm up to evaluate proper fuel delivery.

If your scan tool shows - " READINESS MONITORS ok- You are all set. Just replaced all 4 O2 sensors and CATS on a 1996 Yukon & I have an Autoxray EZ5000 scanner which gave me the same readings but the truck passed emissions here in mass.

Sensors


Band 2 stands for the pass. side of the engine. Sensor 1 is the O2 sensor closest to the engine.

Gmc vandura 1996, 3500 running rich


There could be all kinds of reasons your vehicle runs rich. It should be fuel injected not carborated. It could have a bad injector, bad air filter, o2 sensors etc. Have it scaned for the reason.
