Most likely you need brake job on front and rear. to test if the pads are worn on the rear set the emergency brake then push down on the brake. does it come up? if it does This means the rear pads are bad and most likely the front. You will want to check the master cylinder for fluid if it is low you will have to replace with DOT3 Fluid once it is full you may have to bleed the system to see if the brakes come up. If the fluid is ok and The pads are not wore out then you will have to check the master cylinder to do this you need to jack up the car one wheel at a time and test by pressing brake pedal down slowly till the wheel will not turn. If the wheels stop on all four wheels when you have done this test then you will need to replace the pads and shoes. If the master cylinder is defective either the front wheels won't stop or the rear won't stop turning when you press the pedal down. The Master cylinder is $39.00 with exchange, but you want to make sure the pads are good the rear shoes are good and the brakes are adjusted. Here is the web page for the parts you need. If you need help doing a brake job let me know and I will give you whatever information you would need to do the job with. You can test the master cylinder if you have rubber gloves too, just pop the lid off the master cylinder and have someone slowly push the pedal down with your finger on the front port see it you get fluid blowing out the hole when the pedal is pushed down. If you do the cup is bypassing and it needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.

1993 buick regal breaks went

Hi again: I'm almost 100% its your Master Cylinder has gone bad.And needs replaced. Should solve your Problem. After you Change it and have the New one on,You'll need a Couple Quarts of Brake Fluid, Cause you'll have to bled the Air out of the System, and 2 Qts so you can Flush out ALL your Old Brake Fluid its probally contaminated. To Bled Start at the Passenger Rear Wheel, next Drivers rear Wheel, Next Pasengers Front Wheel,And Last Drivers Side Front Wheel. You'll need a Helper for for 2 reasons 1st reason he wil need to push the Brake Pedal to the Floor HOLD it UNTIL you Open Bleeder Valve and leave open until no more Fluid or Air is Coming Out, Then Close it do it again and again,Then Go to the next Wheels as i told you above and repeat the same thing on each wheel but do it in the order i told you above. 2nd Everytime you open the Bleeder Valves and Fluids coming out ,Your Helper needs to Keep checking the MASTER Cylinder and Keep it Full ALL the TIME. or you'll get AIR in the System and the Bleeding will not Work, Without a Full master as you Bleed the Brakes. Continue doing this until you See Cleaner Brake Fluid Coming out ALL 4 Wheels Bleeder Valve. Remember KEPT THE MASTER CYLINDER FULL. AND ONLY have your HELP PUSH the PEDAL down even to the FLOOR DON"T PUMP IT> You'll get a Pedal as soon as you have Continued to Keep Bleeding the System. This should Solve your Problem.

1992 olds regency ninty eight. Break pedal seems to go down futher than it should when applying. when stopped at a light brake pedal seems to slip going further down some. Checked for leaks on brake lines...

if master cylinder is bad. the pedal will go to floor running or not.when the pedal goes down at a standing stop it is usually the master cylinder thats bad. and losing vacuum. thats if there are no other leaks at wheel cylinders etc. if putting on a new master cylinder, do not forget to bench bleed it! heres how. put the master cylinder in the vise, fill it full of fluid then pump the plunger with a dowel or something soft as to not ruin plunger not let it run dry ! when fluid comes out from master cylinder and no more air is in it. fill it up and put on car. heres what I do! remove the lines from old cylinder on car. as long as you do not lose any fluid doing this, there is no need to bleed air from brakes when done. after on car make sure master cylinder is full of fluid. start the car and pump the brakes a few times, then you should be all set.

How do I bleed the brake lines for a 1998 buick park avenue?

The same way you would bleed them on a '97 Buick PA... Just kidding :). Make sure the master cylinder reservoir is full. Have a helper pump the brakes until they feel some resistance or the pedal no longer goes to the floor. Open the bleeder screw on a rear wheel cylinder or front caliper. The brake pedal should drop. Have your helper hold down the pedal until you have a chance to close the bleeder. Repeat the process until you get no air from that bleeder. Move on to the next bleeder and do it again. Repeat the process until all 4 bleeders are done. Make sure you check the fluid level in the master cylinder frequently.

I have a 89 buick park avenue ultra. my

the transmission breaking apart but in a really slow way. There's not a thing that can be done to save it. It's going to someday give out. You can prolong it by not punching on the pedal to test it. just drive it normally and DON"T get the trans oil change. Just leave it alone... I own 89 P/Ave 156,000 original owner. Same thing happened to my car and picked up a used trans at junk yard and my mechanic installed it and runs like a baby at half the price(700.00). If you go to junk yards half of the park ave are because of trans. Good luck
