In the 1995 version it was located in the fuel tank. There's a removable plate on the top of the tank that the fuel line comes from - remove that and the pump comes with it. 1990 could be different, trace the fuel line back from the carby. If you don't see a pump anywhere then it's in the tank.
This usually means you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Running lean means there is too much air going into the cylinders than there should be. The leak can be anywhere is the vacuum lines from the intake to the power brakes or to the egr valve or a bunch of other places. There is a vacuum diagram under the hood if you want to start tracing them out. They are made of plastic and get brittle with time. The more difficult leak to find is intake gasket leaks. This is one of the more difficult codes to solve at home. Start with the vacuum lines.
Try tracing the fuel line from the gas tank to the fuel injection. If you are unable to find it then most likely the filter is located in the fuel tank with the fuel pump if equiped with an electronic fuel pump. Some fuel pumps are located in the tank, by the tank, or on the engine. either way if you trace the fuel line you should find it unless it is in the gas tank like I mentioned. Good Luck!
in the fuel lines along the drivers side. if you cant see it under your close to your drivers side door then you should trace it from your fuel lines coming from the tank
I would trace fuel lines from tank to fuel rail on motor. These are high pressure lines so do not try to quick-fix them. You will have to measure the lines and replace them if they are leaking. Unless the fuel is leaking from lines by fuel rail or by fuel filter.
sounds like you are going to have to drop the tank out to inspect and fix. with luck it will be leaking from the fuel pump seal or the return line.
Bad luck would be if the tank is rusted out and needs to be replaced.
Syphon as much gas out of the tank as you can before you drop it , gas is heavy.
if engine won't crack - dead battery
if engine cranks but won't start - no fuel or spark
fuel reservoir is the fuel tank.
a fuel filter can be inside a housing...
