Question about 2003 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

I just had the interior of my car detailed (2003 expedition/eddie bauer) and when I got home and tried to put the rear windows down, one went down but not back up and the other won't go down at all. Could the car wash guys have accidentally disconnected something? They were working fine before I took it there.

If that's the case, how is it fixed?

yes. I confirmed it with my mechanic and it turned out that water came in contact with the switch and burned it out.

    Thanks!

There is no way they could have disconnected anything. Chances are water or cleaner either got into the switches and shorted them out, or water got down into the window motors and shorted it out as well.

The switch can be tested with an ohmmeter or a voltmeter to see if power is going to the window motor. You can also test the power at the window motor. If no power, than the switch is likely bad, then you can test the switch. If there is power going to the motor then motor is worn of fried out and will need to be removed. To gain access to the window motor, you need to remove all the screws in the door panel, then lightly and gently pry off the door panel, you will then see a clear plastic sheeting to remove, then you will have access to the motor.

Not a problem. It is a common problem. Just let the cleaners know next time so they don't get the nozzles so close to the components where water can leak inside.

Is there any major differences in a 99 Eddie bauer expedition and a 2002 Eddie Bauer. Interior and motor ?

The only really big change interior is the radio options other than that nothing drastically improved. Motor wise the fuel economy on the 4.6l is a little better on the 02 due to some minor computer programming. This steps a little outside your question but they still carry the common Expedition issue since they are for the most part the same vehicle. Manifold studs snapping off in the heads, BCM going bad which may or may not cause odometer light to fail, rear trailing arms snapping which I believe was recalled and the air suspension in the rear if equipped is still junk in 02 better replaced with a eliminatiin kit. All this being said they still are really nice trucks.

The rear suspension is down on my 1999 Ford Expedition - Eddie Bauer. The cause: while out in the woods I came across a small dip which cause my back left wheel to lift off the ground. The suspension...

I had a 1999 Expedition. When you put the 4x4 on it raises the vehicle an extra inch or 2.
It may help to turn the 4x4 off. Two wheel drive is a lower air setting.
Your original pump may still be good. The problem can be in the front. The compressor is not filling the front suspension to the cutoff point. It will lift the rear after the front end is at running height. Since you lost the front end first, the remaining air bled out there and then the rear came down. Once you shut down the car the suspension was done, all the air was let go.
There are adjustment solenoids on the body but you need someone qualified to repair this.
