Clipped curb w/right rear wheel on u turn and now car rides like a bumpy hay wagon. What happened?

It sounds as if you may have bent the wheel. any shop should be able to check it on a wheel balancer and see if it is out of round. good luck!

Rides bumpy about 30 mph


Possible you damaged a wheel bearing, bushing, bent wheel studs, etc. Have a reputable repair shop go over it very carefully.

I heard something snap and then noticed that the rear of the car drives very bumpy


Can you provide more info? Did you hit a bump? What do you mean by 'drives bumpy?' Does it ride rough, or does it go up and down a lot after you hit a bump, or something else? Can you further describe the snap you heard, and what was going on when you heard it and immediately afterward (e.g., driving 40 mph on a paved road, hit a pot hole, heard a loud 'breaking' sound as if something snapped/broke, and the ride of the car seemed to immediately change to being more harsh/rough)? Have you had any work done recently, such as tires changed or rotated, struts replaced, wheel alignment, or brakes replaced? Did anything else change (e.g., now when you hit a bump, you hear a new noise in the rear)? Were you carrying anything heavy in the trunk or back seat? I had a '99 Corolla for several years, and had zero problems other than a worn out driver's door handle and a couple of cracked windshields. Great car choice!

2012 miata mx5 has growling noise in rear coming off a speed bump or bumpy road upon executing a left or right turn.


wheel bearing is the first to be check. lift the car on the lift and push/pull the wheels in and out. if excessive play replace the bearings.

Mercedes c 200 n/s rear wheel hits wheel arch i curbed it ever since ive had that problem


if its touching the arch could be a few things if its been curbed broken spring weel shock absorber worst case pulled the bearing out sligtley or any one of the arms going from subframe could be bent or broken it shouldn't be putting it self right when it gets bumped again I would be carful as you could loose the wheel eventually would start with checking the rear wheel bearing and hub also get the rear lower bushing checked as I said could be anything hope this helps ivan

I want to set up memory steating and paraelle parking mirror and everything else that I don't understand.


Hi,
Getting a fish eye mirror on the corner of your rear view mirror is the most important tool if you want to succeed in parallel parking. It allows u to tell where your wheels are and how close to the curb they are. By having that information, you will be able to tell when you need to straighten the car etc.

Secondly, backing in slowly but turning you steering wheel quickly is the key. A lot of ppl they tend to do the opposite, end up not entering the right angle and messing up the whole thing by not hitting the curb or having too much space between the curb.
1) Line up your car beside the other one, mirror to mirror.
2) Turn your wheels to the right ONE rotation; so from 12'oclock to 12'oclock.
3) Start backing into the spot and when your mirror matches the rear corner, turn it all the way to the left.
4) That should do it.
Tilt your right mirror a little bit down; set it where you can see clear view of the curb, roughly about 1/3 of your view should be able to focus on the curb, like how I set mine up.
Try not to line up your car too far away from the other car, but not too close.
Line up your rear bumper with the other car then start backing it up.
Practice more and drive your car more often.

checkout the struts on the rear and the strut mounts and the tires to make sure they does not have a bad belt in them if you have air ride make sure the air ride is lifting the car

The car rides rough.


Dear Alban: You may not like the answer, but the reality of the issue is this: The lower the profile the tire is, the less time there is for irregularities in the road to be absorbed. Low profile tires have very stiff sidewalls which equates into little in the way of flexing. The car was designed for 15" wheels with a totally different profile tire. There is always a trade off with ride and handing traits when big changes are made with wheels and tires. The big rims and low profile tires are the rage right now and this is a very big problem that I run across when cars come into my shop and customers complain about the ride and road noise. Whether it is a 300ZX or a Mercedes, makes no difference, I still get the same complaint. Some cars display the problem to a slight degree and others, it is very pronounced in. There is not a shock or strut in the world that will solve this problem. Your only solution if you can't live with the ride of a log wagon, is to get rid if the wheels and get something with a tire that has some distance between the road and the rim. mybunkey

Bent right rear RH axle 2001 prerunner 2wd.


Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Let me assist you as follows:
Removing the rear axle shaft is realy quite easy.
Her is what you need to do:

Remove the wheel/tire.
Remove the rear brake drum.
Remove the brake line to the rear wheel cylinder and plug the line.
Remove the park brake cable.
Remove the entire rear backing plate assembly; no need to remove the rear shoes.
When the backing plate is off, the axle shaft slides out of the axle housing; there are no "C" clips to remove, like on a Chevrolet. The axle is not held at the differential in any fashion.
Note that if you replace the axle shaft, you will need a machine shop to press the wheel bearings & seals onto the new shaft.

there is some think bent on your front end it will be a tie rod end or drag link get under car and compare one side of suspension to the other look for somethink bent or shape differentlythere should be scrap marks on the suspension where the rock scrappeduse a torch to see better u may be able to pull the part of a repair it
