2006 passat 2.0t just replaced the Sparks and oil leak in2 places were done by vw dealer and dropped a pan changed the oil 2weeks ago now Im losin oil and every other day a cloud of white smoke with smell...

Valve seals. When you shut the car off overnight, the oil leaks past the seals into the cylinders. When you start it, it burns that oil and smokes for a minute( actually it smoke all the time, just not as bad at startup).

Oil leaks in a 2004 VW Passat

assuming car is leaking oil not burning it [blue smoke] look under car and check where oil is coming from if done at a shop should have brought back so correction could be made --if coming from filter area possible wrong filter -cross threaded -loose -or missing/doubled gasket=if coming from pan area drain bolt same -loose -cross threaded-missing gasket-

2004 VW Passat engine cover at bottom of car hanging down. Could this be related to oil/oil filter change recently done?

yes that is very possable because that cover would have to be removed for the oil change. the beast cure would be to get a few cable ties or zip ties to tie it back up

Just like any other car.

Drain the oil from the oil pan.

put a new filter on
replace the drain plug (very important)
Put in 5qts of oil
