Your serpentine belt broke. Car probably has one belt that connects alternator, water pump, etc.

Serpentine belt fell off

Belt falling off,, It is most likely a belt tencher, or a pulley,, Turn pulley's by hand felling for any wobbling or play side to side especially watter pump ,if fault is found replace part and reinstall belt,!if you cant find fault,Reinstall belt, then pull on belt to see if it belt has tension and returns with no sticking of tension-er then,if all look well .start car and observe ,may have been a glitch or bad belt best wish

Change belt

It is possible the it was not seated fully on all pulleys. Or it could be the belt tensioner.

2001 dodge stratus R/T- serpatine belt fell off- why-

correct sounds like the balance pully fell apart, common problem.the outter ring with grooves to hold belt is held together by rubber, wears out and falls apart, must replace that crank pulley, remove center bolt use a puller to remove pully, then install new one and belt.( must be a puller for newer dodges 1999 and up to work.hope this is helpful.

The key way that the sprocket rides on that obviously fell out. the key way holds the sprocket in place. You can get another key way at you NAPA store or the dealer. Re-set your timing marks and install the keyway and re-install the sprocket.
