When those lights do not shut off, the vehicle thinks the door is open. There are buttons in the doorways that push in telling the vehicle that the doors are closed. These can short out or wear out.

The dimmer switch was my next suggestion. I was going to add that to my prior post but was waiting to hear about the door switches. The dimmer switch may just be switched on, If it was bad, you dash lights likely wouldn't be working.
I would check to see if it is switched on. If not, it may be the light delay timer that is bad.

either the dimmer switch is bad or shorted out. You can test it by removing the switch and unplugging the wire harness to see if the light then turns off. If not, then the switch is good and the light delay timer is bad.

That is called a dome light dimmer relay or timer

It sounds like you are looking for the illuminated entry time delay
module. It is located behind the accessory relay panel. This is on the
left (driver's) side. Move this relay panel out of the way, pull the
electrical connector, and remove the module. Chances are this module
will have to be replaced if it is the cause of the problem.

I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma and I am having issues with the dome light. When the truck is running, the dome light functions as it should. But when the key is turned off, the dome light gets stuck on,

CHECK THE DIMMER SWITCH THAT CONTROLS DASH BRIGHTNESS. THIS OFTEN CONTROLS DOME LIGHT. ALSO MAKE SURE (IF PRESENT) THE MANUAL DOME LIGHT SWITCH IS FUNCTIONING

Sounds like a battery cable problem. Check the battery cable terminals for corrosion and tightness. If those are fine, have a load test done on the battery.
Here is some troubleshooting tips:

Battery terminal connections loose of corroded. Check the cable terminals at the battery; tighten cable clamp and/or clean off corrosion as necessary.
Battery discharged or faulty. It the cable ends are clean and tight on the battery posts, turn the key to the On position and switch on the headlights or windshield wipers. If they won't run, the battery is discharge.
Automatic transmission not engaged In park (PI or Neutral (N).
Broken, loose or disconnected wires In the staging circuit. Inspect all wires and connectors at the battery, starter solenoid and ignition switch (on steering column).
Starter motor pinion jammed in flywheel ring gear. II manual transmission, place transmission In gear and rack the vehicle to manually turn the engine. Remove starter and Inspect pinion and flywheel.
Starter solenoid faulty.
Starter motor faulty.
Ignition switch tautly.
Engine seized. Try lo turn to crankshaft with a large socket and breaker bar on the pulley bolt.

My battery went dead in my 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 I put the battery charger on and I noticed the dome light was on and the headlights where on so I unhooked the battery and charged it hooked it back...

it's not required to have the key in the ignition for either the dome lights or headlights to be on unless of course you mean the daytime running lights. be that as it may, locate the head light relay in the engine compartment fuse panel near the battery and replace it. this should resolve the issue. the dome light could be an issue with another relay this time located in the interior fuse panel

they may possibly be on the same circuit so replacing the relay in the engine compartment may fix the dome light issue

1998 escort zx2 dome light stays on when switch is set for door; all other indicators, chime for key in ignition etc seem OK. Light works normally in switch on and off positions.

It should stay on for about 30 seconds and go off. Otherwise, the car is 11 years old, so find a switch position which does not drain the battery.

Dome lights won't turn off

Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?
