Question about 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

1 Answer

The problem we are having is that when we turn our 2008 Equinox off the key will stick sometimes where we can not remove the key. What would be causing the key to stick when you turn the car off?

Your Ignition switch cylinder is bad. You have a fairly new car and it may still have some Warranty left. Then there could be a Service Bulletin for extended coverage if this problem is common. Check with the Chevy Dealer first before spending your own money.

2008 Chevy Equinox would not start, turn key and nothing happened, replaced battery, ran just fine for a week. Tried to start one week later it acted like it wanted to start but wouldn't. Had ju

Usually a sign of something draining the battery.
The machine test probably showed the battery could hold a charge and the alternator was charging the battery.
You may need to have someone check for a power drain.
When the key switch is off, there may be a weak short to ground or a relay or component that is using power.

How do i get the water out? can the lens be removed and re sealed

Are you talking about a light lens? That's my best guess without any kind of description.

Rear lens I'm guessing again, only because front lenses often have a whole in them to allow evaporation of water moisture.

Rear light lenses can usually be removed from the inside of the car by disconnecting their wiring and removing their location nuts.

Lenses once dried out thoroughly can sometimes be resealed with a silicone based sealant around the edges where the lens meets the unit's main body.
Depending on the vehicle however, a replacement lens may sometimes be around the same cost as a tube of sealant. Prices vary wildly for lenses however, so get a price before you start.

2008 equinox, turn key and it clicks but nothing happens, still have good headlights, acts like dirty cables of old days and suggestions

Suspect bad battery. The battery may produce enough current to operate most things (headlights, radio, locks etc) but not nearly enough to run the starter.

I have the blank key cut for my 2007 Equinox, how do I program it?

Hello and welcome. this is how you learn a new key. please note this is for adding a new key. you must still have one working key for this to work.

Adding Keys Important: • To initiate, this procedures requires that a learned master key be available. • A total of 10 keys may be programmed to a single vehicle. • This procedure adds keys only. The procedure does not erase previously learned keys. • The keys to be learned must duplicate the mechanical cut of the current key. • If more than one valet key is to be learned, immediately precede each valet key with a learned master key.
  1. With a previously learned master key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key.
  3. Within 10 seconds of turning OFF the ignition, insert the key to be learned and turn ON the ignition. The vehicle has now learned the new key.
