It takes about a week of driving. if the light is still on then you have a evap leak in the evap system, a smoke machine and evap tester is needed to find the problem and also a scan tool to scan the computer for codes, there are valves and lines that could be leaking and without the right tool it hard to find. hope this helps.

Gascap message in mileage readout on dash. Engine light is on. What is the problem and how do I fix it. ??

The gas cap is either not on or improperly installed, remove the cap and reinstall it until it clicks when tightening. Read your owner's manual, the info is in there. If the light still stays on replace the gas cap.

Gas cap light came in jeep patriot 2008

Start by rebooting the as explained regkyl.
If issue returns then get a new gascap and reboot again. The seal on your cap is maybe worn out.
If issue still return then you'll have no choice to go and have the sensor checked and hope the problem is not with the cluster...

Gascap comes on my dash. But the gascap is shut tight!

That doesn't mean that there is not gas escaping from it. Sometimes the seal isn't good and it will leak. I have actually had that problem and it didn't seem like the cap was bad at all. I replaced it and problem went away. So you probably wouldn't even know if it wasn't for the light. Hope that helped you out.

I took my Aspen07 to the shop and they replaced the gascap with a factory gascap, cleared the codes and the gascap message is still on as well as the check engine light. Any suggestions?

the check engine light is most likely evap system large leak which is what causes the gas cap light it probably needs a nvld pump or it has a leaking evap tube under th vehicle.

Fuel cap light keeps coming on and then the check engine light. This was repaired two weeks ago and light came on last night.

Hello, what did someone do to repair it? Here is what you need to do. Go to Autozone or Oreillys and get a free scan. If it still shows gascap then ask them to clear the onboard computer. With the engine off, tighten your gascap again.

Everytime you put on the gascap loosely, you will get this alarm and it will stay on 25-35 Startups or until you get the computer cleared.

However, if you eliminate the gascap there are other problems which you may have that require a special tool called a smoke machine. You have a leak in one of your pollution hoses for the fuel tank. Only the smoke machine can find a small leak like this. Once you find the leak it is a simple matter to fix.

You can call around to find a repair shop with the proper equipment. I hope you find my solution informative and feel well served.

How to shut off gascap light chrsler aspen check engine light goes off but because gascap light stays on check engine light returns. So how can i clear gascap light

You may have a faulty gas cap. If you are tightening the cap down securely the light will go off after the car is driven about 40 miles. I suggest installing a new gas cap which should cost about $15 at your local auto parts store. *** Please rate me on this answer.***

The gascap light is on and the oil light is on. They replaced the seal on the oilcap and they don't know what's wrong with it

try disconnecting the battery to clear the codes. then make sure the gas cap is tight, should make it click at least 3 or more times. if the gas cap light comes back on its possible that their is a leak in the EVAP system. as far as the oil light coming on its a possibility that the oil pressure switch is bad.

Gascap light comes on every time I start the car.

You will need to get the code befoe anyone can begin to diagnose this, There are about 5 parts that can cause this problems. The gas cap is one of them. If anyone has been uner the hood just pryor to this happening its possible they left a vacuum hose off or maybe broke one.

If this car is really an 07 then this being an emission issue you are covered under warrenty. Take it to the dealer.

Gascap light comes on everytime i start up the car

I had this similar problem but gascap and engine light on. I changed out the gas cap cleared codes and both were back o. Went to the dealer he insisted it was the after market gascap changed in and cleared the codes. Before I even left the lot they were both back on. Finally they found the problem they had to change out some kind of pump and canister and it fixed the problem.
