Remove front wheel, remove nut on cv joint, next remove bolt from lower balljoint, break free to sperate balljoint from spindle, use a fork and hammer and a pry bar to pry lower arm out of the spindle, pull sindle back and slide axle out of hub, use wire to tie spindle back out of the way as far as it will go, caution of abs wire and brake hose, dont pull to far away, next use a long pry bar and go between back of axle joint and trany, give a quick pry to pop out of trany, to install new one apply grease to the lock ring on the end of axle that goes into trany, center the clip best you can, slide into trany then at other hit with a hammer you may want to put nut on so not to damage threads, you will feel axle pop in and lock, reverse order to put together. hope this helps.

have your cv joints checked, was there a grinding noise as you went around a corner before it died? if so, then it was the cv joints.

I have a dodge caravan 96. Motor is 3.3. I have a transmission leak. On the driver side of the transmission. I replace the seal, but the leak continue through the CV joint.

If it is leaking grease out of the cv joint, you will have to replace the rubber cv boot or eventually, the entire cv axle, if it gets worn because of lost grease and no lubrication.

How do you change a cv joint on a 1992 dodge caravan? The right cv joint is out. Do we need to replace the right axel or can we just change the cv joint?

You need to replace the whole right side axle shaft. Take the ball-joint loose and the axle nut. Pull the shaft from the hub assembly and then pull it from the transmission

How do i change the drivers side transaxle in a 1994 dodge carava

To change the CV axle, you have to remove the lower ball joint, remove the axle nut, remove from hub, (you can pull the strut out far enough to do this), and the axle will pull out. Install in reverse order. Sounds like you were trying to remove the transmission.

94 Caravan pulls HARD to left when stepping on gas

IT IS VERY POSSIBLE THAT THE BALL JOINTS ARE VERY WORN WITH THE MILES YOU HAVE ON THE VAN.. THE REASON IT DRIVES STRIGHT WHEN YOU TURN RIGHT A FEW TIMES IS THAT IT LINES THE BALL JOINTS BACK UP, SOUNDS LIKE THE BALL JOINTS HAVE A LOT OF PLAY IN THEM, VERY,VERY DANGOUS.. KEITH..

Dodge Caravan, 2001, CV joints have 1/4" longitudinal play/noise

CV Joint Axle Replacement - How to Repair or Replace

Over time the rubber boots of the CV joints can become cracked, torn, or otherwise compromised. Once moisture and dirt get into a CV joint and grease makes its way out, the CV joints days are numbered. Signs of impending failures are a click-click-clicking or metallic crackling noise while turning and accelerating or a clunking upon deceleration. While one can repack, reboot, and rebuild CV axles, it makes more sense for the average do-it-yourselfer to procure replacement units and swap out the old axles. If a boot is torn or missing, it is possible to save the joint if caught early enough, but usually the damage has already been done. Replacing or servicing the entire CV joint axle assembly may be the smarter move since replacing a boot may involve removing an axle, which may also involve removing half or all of the vehicle's brakes and suspension.
