If it was the right hand mount,it's common.Mine did it and there was 2 options.Get them drilled and tapped out or pull the engine out.Sorry to tell you this.What I did was lift the motor with a jack.Get the old engine mount off.I paid a guy to come in and what he did was genius.With mirrors and some really good air drills,he drilled the broken bolts(started with dies to get a start on the bolts).Drilled the bolts.It took about 4 drill bits because they burnt out very easily.Then put in ezi-outs to get them out.It took about 2 hours and before he started,the wd40 went on the bolts about 12 hours prior.He said it helped a lot.It was a fiddly job but this guy had the gear to do it.It cost $120.A lot cheaper than an engine pull.(the new engine bolts cost $6.)They main bit was to get a spinning metal die in there to give the drill a good start.Mate.I hope this helps

How to remove starter from 2004 pacifica


REMOVAL
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove (UPPER RADIATOR CROSS MEMBER) and relocate (UPPER RADIATOR CROSS MEMBER REMOVED) the upper radiator crossmember, (Refer to 23 - BODY/EXTERIOR/RADIATOR CROSSMEMBER - REMOVAL).
Remove the radiator fan module (FAN MODULE IN VEHICLE) (Refer to 7 - COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR FAN - REMOVAL).
Remove the wiring harness clip from front mount.
Remove the coolant line clamp bolt (COOLANT LINE BRACKET).
Remove the upper nut from the front mount (FRONT RUBBER MOUNT UPPER NUT).
Remove the upper starter mounting bolt (UPPER STARTER BOLT).
Remove the middle starter bolt (MIDDLE STARTER BOLT).
Raise vehicle and support.
Remove the lower front mount nut (FRONT RUBBER MOUNT IN POSITION).
Raise and support engine (SUPPORT ENGINE).
Remove the lower bracket bolt to transmission (BRACKET TRANS BOLT).
Remove the lower bracket bolt to engine block (BRACKET ENGINE BLOCK BOLT).
Relocate the front mount and bracket.
Disconnect the positive battery cable from starter
Disconnect the solenoid connector from starter.
Remove the lower starter bolt (STARTER LOWER BOLT).
Remove starter from vehicle.

They are bolted to brackets that are bolted to the engine block.

Ford fiesta 1998 ghia no air con. How do you loosen fan belt for replacement. Alternator seems to be fixed ie not hinged to release tension. Is there a separate tensioner?


the alternator IS the adjuster,just free off the holding bolts (4) then use a crowbar(or silmilar)to free of the rust around the block bracket bolts (be careful not to use too much pressure as the bracket is prone to snapping).

NEED HELP WITH TORQUE SPECS ON 1998 CHEVROLET SURBURBAN CYLINDER HEADS 5.7


Cylinder Head Removal & Installation 5.7L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine coolant.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  4. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  5. Remove both heater hoses.
  6. Disconnect spark plug wires at distributor cap.
  7. Remove distributor cap.
  8. Remove the coolant bypass hose from the water pump.
  9. Remove the drive belt. NOTE: It is not necessary to evacuate the A/C refrigerant.
  10. Remove the A/C compressor from the mounting bracket and set it aside.
  11. Remove the wiring bracket from the rear of the cylinder head.
  12. Disconnect the accessory bracket and slide forward.
  13. Remove the upper and lower intake manifold.
  14. Remove the exhaust manifolds.
  15. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
  16. Remove the power steering pump pulley.
  17. Disconnect the electrical connector from the power steering pump.
  18. Remove nuts attaching the power steering pump to the engine.
  19. Remove power steering pump mounting bracket bolts and nut.
  20. Slide power steering pump/bracket assembly forward and remove stud.
  21. Set power steering pump/bracket assembly aside.
  22. Disconnect the wiring bracket from rear of the right cylinder head.
  23. Remove the generator.
  24. Remove the oil indicator tube bracket bolt.
  25. Remove the generator mounting bracket.
  26. Remove the sixteen cylinder head bolts.
  27. Remove cylinder heads and gaskets.
  28. Clean all sealing surfaces.
To Install:
Right Side NOTE: Clean all dirt, debris, and coolant from the engine block cylinder head bolt holes. Failure to remove all foreign material may result in damaged threads, improperly tightened fasteners or damage to components.
NOTE: Do not use any type of sealant on the cylinder head gasket (unless specified).
  1. Clean the cylinder head bolt holes with a thread chaser and compressed air.
  2. Check the cylinder head locating pins for proper installation.
  3. Place a new cylinder head gasket over the engine block dowel pins.
  4. Install the cylinder head to the engine block.
  5. Apply sealant (GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent) to cylinder head bolt threads.
  6. Install the cylinder head bolts. gm-03-50-685.gif

  7. Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence on the first pass.
    • Torque to: 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)
  8. Using a torque angle meter, tighten the long bolts (1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10 and 13) on the second pass in sequence to 75°.
  9. Using a torque angle meter, tighten the medium bolts (14 and 17) on the second pass in sequence to 65°.
  10. Using a torque angle meter, tighten the short bolts (3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15 and 16) on the second pass in sequence to 55°.
  11. Install the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
  12. Install the generator mounting bracket stud.
    • Torque to: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
  13. Loosely assemble the generator mounting bracket over the stud.
  14. Install all nuts and bolts finger tight.
    • Torque to: 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm)
  15. Install the generator.
  16. Install the oil indicator tube bracket bolt.
  17. Install the exhaust manifold.
  18. Install the lower intake manifold.
  19. Install the valve rocker arm covers.
  20. Install the wiring bracket to the rear of the cylinder head.
  21. Connect the accessory bracket.
  22. Install the A/C compressor.
  23. Install the drive belt.
  24. Install the distributor cap.
  25. Connect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap.
  26. Install both heater hoses.
  27. Install the upper radiator hose.
  28. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  29. Refill the engine coolant.
  30. Connect the negative battery cable.
Left Side To Install:

How do you replace the alternator?


there are 2 locking bolts underneath and 2 bolts on the front belt adjuster bracket,undo the 2 bottom bolts and the bolt in the alt/bracket,loosen the block bolt/adjuster bracket,that will release the belt tension,then pull out of the engine bay,replacement is the 2 bottom bolts finger tight then the belt over the pulley then finger tight for the bracket,tension the belt be levering the alt away from the block and tighten up the alt/bracket first then the other 3.check belt tightness (1/2"movement/slack on longest run)then recheck all bolts tight.....you will need to recode your radio after.and dont forget to note what wires came off what terminals.......draw a picture if needed...

My 97 chevy blazer is eating starter bolts. I have replaced them three times and they are all breaking after a day or two.I have had to drill them out twice now...i


Check the starter and see if there is a provision for a front or top brace. most starters have them and that part is often discarded on the first replacement. (should be a small "L" bracket) between the starter motor and the block. You could try using grade 8 mounting hardware but if it snaps again they will be more difficult to drill.
I'd also start looking for a reason there is so much stress there, otherwise even if the bolts do not snap, the nose of the starter will shatter. One possible cause of that is an engine mis-fire during starting, due to a bad ignition wire, cap or rotor.
Likely you can get a pair of oem bolts and possibly even the bracket for cheap at any scrapyard.

Im replacing timing belt, accessory belts and water pump on my hyundai elantra gls 1997 sta wgn auto transmission. (1)Where is bolt to drain engine block coolant?(2)After removing front engine mountin


(1) No need to know if engine block coolant drain plug was available. Once the water pump was removed, all engine block coolant was drained. (2) After removing the three engine mounting bracket bolts, I also removed the mount bracket from the the body and made enough room to replace the timing belt easier.

Engine mount support bracket won't come off.


can you get some small vice grips on the bolt, to hold it while you wrench it off.  Simply replace the bolt if you mess up the threads.

2005 maxima motor (F) mount


hi best advice is to look at how the mounting is secured to chassis and usually a steel bracket which securec to engine ? if so then i would support engine under neath with hydraulic trolly jack and block thenundo the chassis mounting bolts/nuts ? then just gently lift engine slightly enough to take weight off mounting ? then if you remove bolts from bracket to engine fixing so the mounting will remove complete with bracket and mounting block after raising engine again to ease removal then renew mount block to bracket but do not tighten bolts/nuts untill you have repositioned into place again on engine then resecure bracket to engine 1st this will leave a little movement on mount as you lower engine down again and locate bolt holes? hope this helps not too difficult diy iob just have a little patience
