Open the bonnet and get the electrics to fully dry out from any clogging of water., Use a good air jet to clean up . the clean the HT wires to the spark plugs, the sires from the distrinbutors and the coils must be totally freed of water moisture and dry.
If the car worn turn on after this, you will need to check the spark intensity , if bad checck to the ignition stage, the impulse to the coils, if absent check. Remove all plugs and clean and test to ensure good spark .Use a good flame to heat up the plug slightly before you put in back. Now the carr must fire.( hope the fuel lines are clean, there is no water in fuel, fuel filter or the pump. Please ccheck this out too).

Kind of depends on how fast you hit the puddle. If pretty fast, there's some water laying around from the big splash underneath, shorting out your ignition. Usually, if you just let it dry out, it will be ok. Give it a few hours if it's warm, more if it's not. The best approach to a puddle is SLOW.

My daughters 2007 Odyssey loses power in rain. It started when she went through a deep puddle coming from work at night. Now whenever there is rain it has little power.

Possible the trip throught the deep puddle soaked the alternatior when water got above the splash guard mounted on the under carrage suggest you check all of the electrical wiring amd relays to see if any are wet or are now exposed to the weather. Good luck. Fixes for deep puddle adventures can be difficult to find and fix.

Ive a Falcon Fairmont Ghia 04 after driving through a big puddle today the car stalled &went into limp mode something has got really wet can you help me please

All the electrical plugs should be weather pack plugs. this type of water and the low pressure of it, shouldn't get into them. If it was a lot of water, check the air filter. If it is misfiring, check spark plugs wires and or coil boots. which ever you have.

Only 3rd forward gear after going thru large puddle

If everything was fine before you went through the puddle ..
Get underneath the car and check all the electrical connections you can see on your transmission.

Depending on the depth of the water and speed you were doing, the surge of water may have affected a connection. Remove what wires you can see and clean them. Do the same with any electrical connections you can see around the brake areas.

I had a bad ignition coil cause the same problem. Simple to replace yourself, and inexpensive. Worth a shot I think. New plug wires might be advisable.

Hit big puddle, drove home now won't start.

Either there is condensation in your distributor cap or you have got water in the plug holes. Remove the plug leads and using a cloth clear the lose water, a hair dryer will evaporate the rest. If it is in the distributo cap, take it off by removing the screws or clips and dry it out, as well as the inside of the distributor. Spray it with silicone oil to keep it water proof.

My Mazda 929 went through a water puddle and now it wont start

I agree with "emissionwiz". What probably happened was you hydrostatic-ally locked your engine. What happens is when you went through that puddle water got sucked into the intake and into the engine. Water being a liquid cannot be compressed and stalled the engine and most likely bent some internal components. If you can hear the starter click but the engine won't turn over you've got a 99% chance its a ruined engine. If you don't want to believe that try turning the engine over by hand (socket on crankshaft), you should be able to turn it, if not it's done for. Good luck and sorry about the misfortune but next time go very slow through puddles.

1995 lumina sedan won't stay running

Sounds like the results we had on a Jeep Cherokee after a friend showed us how well his heated pressure washer could clean up an engine comparment.

It took a couple of days before the Jeep ran normally again.

I think the splash caused some seepage into a connector, perhaps one connecting some sensor to the 'computer.'

Letting the car dry out if you can keep it running for 20 minutes or so until the engine is warmed up and then ignoring it for some hours might help.
