Question about Dodge 4

I have no brakes on my 51 kaiser. i have new pads but absolutely no brakes! can u tell me how the brake sustem works? is it hydrolic? if so or not how do i put fluid into the system? its the only thing keeping the car off the road, please let me know anything u can tell me?

A 51 Kaiser had brake shoes on all 4's. You must have a fatman suspension with Mustang brakes on it

I have to push brake pedal to the floor almost to get truck to slow down, i have new brake pads and rotors also i have no leaks in brake lines any idea why i have no brake pedal

it could be a brake booster problem or a master cylinder problem. If the rear brakes are shoe brakes try to adjust them. If not then you'll have to determine if it's a bad booster or master. Did you some how get air into the hydrolic system

How do I get the brake caliper hydrolic sleeve to go back in far enough for the caliper to fit back over the new brake pads?

Using the inside pad, remove the clip from the back of the pad. Place the pad back against the caliper in its original position and 524e65b.jpgusing a 7" C-clamp open the clamp to fit over the caliper and brake pad in the center. Then turning the screw end of the clamp slowly push the caliper back. Watch that it's going in evenly. Once the pad touched the caliper you are done. Remove the C Clamp and old pad a install you new pads.

Whenever you have new brake pads put on it is best to have the rotors cut. Otherwise they can shudder or grab or any number of things. If the vehicle is pulling to one side or another it could be a frozen caliper. Calipers should always be replaced in pairs. As with all brake work, anything done to one side absolutely needs to be done to the other. Always purchase medium grade brake pads and shoes. Premium pads and shoes are almost always too agressive for any rotor to withstand and will generate excessive heat and premature wear. If your brakes seem like they arent releasing it is most likely the calipers.

I have an Audi 2.6 E Cabriolet. The dash shows a flashing red light for the brakes, which according to the manual means low fluid level. Level is ok and the float switch also checks out ok. Solutions...

I had the same problem but weirdly enough I topped up my Hydrolic fluid and it suddenly stop flashing Perhaps it is a short circuit on my Audi 2.6 E Cabriolet or it actually picks up both brake fluid and Hydrolic fluid with the same light

Check the brake fluid level and top off to full mark if it still stays on then you have a brake system failure in the hydrolic system front or rear brakes are not working and the light is telling you that.

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in Service Precautions.

  1. Inspect the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir.
  2. If the brake fluid is midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, no brake fluid needs to be removed from the reservoir before proceeding.
  3. If the brake fluid level is higher than midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, remove the brake fluid with appropriate tool to the midway point before proceeding.
  4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
  5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

  1. Compress the front brake caliper piston.
6.1. Install a large C-clamp over the top of the brake caliper housing and against the back of the outboard brake pad. 6.2. Slowly tighten the C-clamp until the piston pushes into the brake caliper enough to slide the brake caliper off the rotor. 6.3. Remove the C-clamp from the brake caliper.
  1. Remove the lower mounting bolt from the slide pin.
  2. Rotate the brake caliper upward until it stops.
  3. Remove the outboard brake pad.
  4. Remove the inboard brake pad.
  5. Remove the brake pad retaining clips from the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  6. Remove the brake pad retaining clip from the brake caliper.
  7. Remove all foreign material from the brake caliper using denatured alcohol.
Installation Procedure

Important: When installing new brake pads, DO NOT reuse the old retaining clips for the brake pad. Use only NEW brake pad retaining clips.

  1. Install the brake pad retaining clips to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  2. Install the brake pad retaining clip to the brake caliper.
  3. Ensure that the brake pad retaining clip in the brake caliper is properly seated.
  4. Install the inboard brake pad.
  5. Install the outboard brake pad.
  6. Rotate the brake caliper down into position.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

  1. Install the lower brake caliper mounting bolt.
    • Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolt to 51 Nm (38 ft. lbs.) .
  1. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  2. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
  3. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir. Caution: Refer to Firm Brake Pedal Caution in Service Precautions.
  4. Pump the brake pedal slowly and firmly to seat the brake pads.
  5. Burnish the new brake pads.

I need instructions to change the breaks (front & back) on a 2004 Hyundai Sonata.

Front brakes are simple, back brakes are a little harder. What you need is a C-clamp and some metric open ended wrenches. Lift the car and the hood, remove the tire, and open the cover on the brake fluid reservoir. Disengage the parking brake if back brakes are hydrolic. Loosen the 2 bolts that hold the caliper on and remove both pads. Compress piston with C-Clamp. If 2 piston, use a piece of wood or something that you can apply even pressure to both pistons. Be careful not to fracture the piston or rubber seal. Just be extra cautious when collapsing piston. Use a towel or anything to absorb the metal to metal force. Insert the new brake pads applying a small amount of blue grease to the back of the pad first.
Install assembled caliper. Repeat for second front. The back brakes, if drum, require more parts to pull apart. My suggestion is to lift the whole back of the car. Remove both drums, might be tough, loosen adjuster gear and pull both brake pads off. Assemble compare to other side.

Flexible brake lines are probably balooning out causing pressure not to build up, replace flexible to the calipers.
