Question about 2005 Saturn ION

Open Question

My 2005 Saturn Ion runs rough and the idle drops to 400-500 and even when pressing the gas the car hesitates to move. This only happens after driving for more than 40-45 minutes. Once the engine completely cools down the car is good to go for another 40-45 minutes until the same thing happens. Do you have any suggestions of what the problem might be?

SOURCE: 2005 saturn ion

I am not a mechanic and have had no problems with my 2005 Ion-2 but at msn/autos I see that these can exhibit a starting problem because of the ignition switch which they recommend replacing. The part is around $40 & the labor is 1 hr.

SOURCE: 2005 Saturn ion . ignition problem?

Your ignition switch needs to be replaced and then your PassLock needs to be re-learned. Very common problem on the Ions.

SOURCE: my saturn ion stalls when making left hand turn

Sounds like a fuel issue to me. Maybe the fuel is sloshing to the right of the tank and causing air to be drawn into the fuel line. Just a guess but something to think about.

2000 saturn sl2 getting code PO452

I don't have a definition of the code for a Saturn.
The generic definition is for a low pressure reading from the EVAP system. The computer pressurizes the fuel tank and evap system every few minutes to check for vapor leaks. The code means the pressure sensor is showing the tank is not holding pressure which usually means there is a leak somewhere.
If this is happening to your car, it could be the gas cap, a hose from the tank to the vapor canister, a faulty valve, or a leak in the tank.
I doubt it would cause the car to run rough.

Would stay cranking after i started it and then would run a lil rough

SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE LEAN FUEL MIXTURE AT FUEL SYSTEM. TRY THIS,CHANGE FUEL FILFER,CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS.POUR A CAN OF SEAFOAM IN 3/4 TO FULL TANK OF GAS. IF THIS DONT HELP.YOU COULD HAVE BAD SPARK PLUGS OR BAD COIL.CODE SCAN FOR FAULTS IN THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE,FAULT IN THE ERG VALVE.IF ALL IS GOOD FUEL PUMP COULD BE FAILING OR YOU HAVE BAD CONTAMINATED FUEL.

2005 Saturn ion 2. Trunk left open, battery too low to start car. Jumped battery, now runs rough and in gear has no power. What the?

jumping the car 2005 typical ignition control module. In todays 2000 and above you are supposed to disconnect then charge the battery, Oh well acces the fuse box and ck to see if any fuse has blown out. Make sure terminal are tight and drive it at part throttle with a/c on see if that will bring the drive parameters back.

2005 saturn ion 141k miles on it. when you start car it runs real rough, put on a code reader and it read miss fires all cylinders.

Try this; get the car in an area that is as dark as possible, open the hood and let it idle. Allowing several minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark, look for any sparks around the ignition wiring. My Saturn (now junked-too many problems) needed all plug wires replaced in under 3 years.

Rough idle after one minute

rough idle can be a lot of different things, is a check engine light on is the first thing that comes to mind, its hard to give you an answer without having the codes the car has stored, it could be anything from bad gas to a mass air flow sensor and a throttle control sensor
