My ptcruiser just cutoff.ignition comes on but starter not responding. Says nofuse .also what's that switch / sensor under battery


could be a simple problem or a expensive one .Might just be a fuse or a relay but it could also be the ignition contact switch ,might even be the wire has come off the starter solonoid ,best advice i can give is to ask a local mechanic .

Hello, it means that the instrument cluster is not seeing messages from the PCI bus, which is how it communicates with the other modules on the vehicle, if you're not having any other problems it's unlikely that the communication bus has failed. You most likely have either a broken bus wire going to the instrument cluster or a failed instrument cluster itself. If you are having other related problems you're either going to have a failed module corrupting the communications bus, or a grounded or shorted bus wire, which will also cause the bus to fail. These are probably the hardest to diagnose problems we see on these vehicles.

The first thing you'd need to do is using a DRB3 scan tool do a module scan to determine if the pci bus is operational. If it is you can then focus on the instrument cluster. If it's not you'll then need to check for shorts to ground and voltage on the pci bus wire, if either is present you'll need to find the cause of the fault.

2006 Dodge Dakota 4x4 SLT Body Control Module location


I have a manual for a 2004 Dakota that is probably similar to the 2006 electrically. Dodge never called it a Body Control Module; earlier models did have the Central Timer Module (CTM) which functioned like Body Control Modules in other manufacturers vehicles.
In 2004, the CTM was replaced by the Integrated Power Module (IPM), which consists of the Front Control Module and Power Distribution Center, and is located next to the battery on the left inner fenderwell (the Front Control Module is underneath the Power Distribution Center, where you will find relays and fuses). There are several other modules which control various functions, and they communicate with each other through the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus circuit, also called J1850.
The Front Control Module controls all exterior lights, except brake lights and turn signals, and the windshield wiper functions. Other modules (PCM, TCM, antilock brakes, heated seats, instrument cluster, power locks/power windows/power mirrors, etc) control other functions, but all communicate through the PCI bus.

Wiper issues only work on high but work very slow


with engine running and not.?
front or rear wiper,?????
toss dice, land on front......( 50/50 odds)
it's a network now, no more old style, point to point one wire for every thing on car and a ton of copper to match.
first test all fuses, then scan it.
or it will get expensive fast guessing.
the Switch bank brain under the wiper stalk
sends what you did, on to the LIN bus network,
The switch there does not actually drive lamps.
its just a digital switch, (some are 3 level logic)
The switches on some use a bank of internal resistors to tell the switch bank what you did.

this LIN data stream, is sent to the cluster brain
and also to the TIPM brain.(Allen Turing brains)
the cluster responds for many actions, taken and shows you what you did (EG) for blinkers, flashes the cluster TURN lamp. in same.
Wipers front.
the command for wipers are sent to the TIPM
this device, runs (DRIVES) a huge number of things on the car. (ask for schematics, I have it in pdf forum now,)

It drives the wiper motor using internal high powered electronics. Direct drive,..
It also senses the wipers location called the sense wire.
The TIPM brain, has complex logic to do all that
it gets many commands to do, (fast ,slow, intermittent wipe) and via TIPM computer memory instructions,
does the job.with pure software. inside.
the wipers can fail for many reasons besides simple mechanical jam or a cut wire.
1: fuse blown to any of those module. check them all if you are SAVVY!
2: TIPM bad,
3: TIPM power supply pin too low, say car battery is 10v ( are head lamps dim,, hummmmmmmmmm)
4: TIPM programming bad. (scrambled brain, needs re-flash)
5: CAN bus or LIN bus, noise, or gross collisions of data on that vital bus. (only scans work here)

IF all fuses are good we scan it .
as always , we check battery voltage first.
with out fail, and listening to the starter motor.
if the starter is dead or weak , we want a strong battery to make all this complex electronics in the car work.
A $10 voltmeter and you know know, battery is above 12.6vdc rested, key on, engine off.
start engine and it goes above, 13.3vdc.
That same tool i can test all fuse. ask.

Binary switch stalk. via 7 pin connector.

to: (i guess the SCM is the Bank switch brain)

if you scan it and see errors from SCM to TIPM
that needs to be corrected first.
garbled bus data will make the TIPM go nuts.

That ground bad theory fails. because...
the motor uses Ground G112
if that wire fails you get vast numbers of failure from 10 majors. including oxygen sensor 1/2
so it;'s not G112 bad.
the motor has fast winding and low speed.
and a common ground. and a sense wire.

never skip scanning the car, or its all like a dog chasing his tail.
Battery not discharged, (you never said car runs)
fuses all good, (means tested)
scanned and not DTC errors. (i bet yes errors)
there 7 pages for the whole can/lin bus.

but this one is switch banks.
one tricky aspect of this, is the cluster
I think translates this wiper data commands from the LIN bus and then rebroadcasts to to the CAN-BUS. that he TIPM uses.that means.
so error are both buses are important.
this is the LIN-bus, the cluster retransmites the commands do the CAN-BUS. so if cluster is dead
that kills those commands,... out.bound. see?

Too old for CAN Bus System

So you have to get a complete vehicle wiring book
& spend a lot of time with that, before you can start your
testing

No power to clock only,radio works?

Hi beams do not seem related,only a wiring
diagram will see the correlation

Codes U1000 & U1152 are related to the digital data bus communications, U1152 is specific for the HVAC control unit data bus. troubleshooting this will require a Tech II scan tool.
P0105 is related to the MAP sensor circuit.

U codes are reserved for future systems and may be proprietary to the manufacturer.

The CAN Bus allows 12 Volts, or other potential, power to be distributed around the vehicle (or system) on a single power rail with local actuators connecting the power to each application as needed. Vehicle functions such as temperatures , alarms or the positions of switches are monitored by sensors connected to the bus and the controller can direct the actuators to initiate the appropriate response as required.

Two variants are available to suit different transmission rates. A high speed (1 MBaud) bus is used for rapid control devices for operations such as engine management and vehicle stability and motion control. For simple switching and control of functions such as lighting, windows, mirror adjustment and instrument displays a low speed (100 KBaud) bus is used.

The CAN bus was designed to provide secure communications in the very harsh operating environments with high levels of electrical noise which are found in automotive systems.

The communications protocol defines the following:

  • Method of addressing the devices connected to the bus
  • Data word format (The message)
  • Priority setting
  • Transmission sequence
  • Control signals
  • Error detection
  • Error handling or correction
  • Transmission speed

The message data, the control signals and the error correction are contained in a data frames of equal length which are transmitted sequentially over the transmission channel.

Definitively, you need visit the dealer to know excalty is you have any problem with the software in your modules os any loss harnesses or wires there.

Electric windows and central locking wont work first thing until car has been drove for a while A4 tdi audi 2001


First check the battery voltage when the windows and door locks will not work (before driving) Will they function if you connect a battery charger? (Low battery voltage) This condition may be related to the security system (if installed) or poor electrical connection to the battery bus that is overcome when the alternator is charging.Be sure to check for 12V connection to the ECM and security Module (if installed)
You will probally need a schematic to check the wireing, Start with the 12v to the windows switches and discover where the power is missing. It will probally be common to the lock problem at some point.

Well hello, very descriptive. anyway the 2000 intrigue has a BCM just left of the steering column under dash, but not common to need changing. but the poblems that you mention (sunroof, windows, radio, cruise control, and steering wheel controls,) are all controlled by a system GM calls R.A.P retained accessory power. there is a relay for this behind glove box,. this relay gets its power from the fuse box in the dash. fuse is inadv power bus/rap fuse. this controls the relay. IGN 1 fuse 50A under hood is the power that is switched with it. The BCM does ground out this relay to make it all work.
if you check on the BCM you will find Orange wires in end plug. Test for power they should all read 12 volts. I will almost bet you that the Orange wire at pin K will be dead. that is the inadv power bus/rap, circuit. if there is no power here but fuse is good check for power at fuse. or you can connect a fuse holder with 15 am fuse from BCM pin J to K and presto you should have everything back.
