The check engine light comes on for various reason, for example an emissions related problem (gas cap left off) to sensor malfiunction....the difficult thing to do is to diagnose it without knowing further info

However, every time the check engine light comes on, it registers a fault, trouble, code that provides an idea of what system may be at fault and thereby increasing the likelihood of tracing the problem......if you got to a local mechanic and get him to connect a scan tool, this will provide you with this trouble code......let us know how you go

How can I cheat the Idle up? I'm getting a low oil pressure light at Idle, 800 RPM. I would like to increase the Idle to 1000 to keep from getting the light.

that wont work trying to adjust idle can be done on older cars with a carburetor or the older throttle bodies new vehicles trying to do it will set off check engine lights on most sensors sound more like oil worn out---oil filter or pump problem change oil and filter and do a flush ---and put in an additive such as lukas - royal purple etc---also why did head need replacing was oil pump tested

Symptems of turbine speed sensor and output sensor 1999 dodge caravan ?

Since the fault seems to be not consistent, it is important that a code check is taken or you will need to do the full maintenance service that is required for the mileage the car has clocked. It can be relative of the engine settings and so perhaps some spares that are to be replaced must be checked like sensors . But atttempt to replace ONLY after a proper check and consensus is taken as you should not replace only by instinct.

The car stalls at low speed and high speed. 3 diagnostic exams at the mechanic's reveals nothing. Please help.

First, is the check engine light on? If not, then there are several possible causes to your problem. The problem could be in transmission (Torque converter clutch circuit is malfunctioning and would cause a stall at low and high speeds), your catalytic converter is plugged, fuel filter is clogged with impurities and your distributor and components may require replacement. The distributor can be deemed damaged if there are numerous arcing marks on it (bad). Fuel filter could be clogged due to bad gas. You could try a fuel system treat, a cheap alternative.

Trans does not want to respond in reverse & o/d light is flashing

With high mileage automatic transmissions, that have not been regularly replacing the transmission oil, it can cause major problems if you do change the oil. The sealing integrity in the valve block can be lost by flushing with new oil,
Firstly, just check and make sure the oil level is correct. Do this by running the engine, with your foot on the brake, go through all the shift positions 2-3 times, holding in those positions for a few seconds each time. Then put into park , still with the engine running, and check the oil level . if its a little low, add a small amount at a time till you get the correct level, each time going through the shift positions and then checking.

Can't find where to check Auto.Transmission level.

Try changing the oil and filter. If that doesn't help, try the speed/shift sensor, or do that first, it's up to you.

2002 Concorde valves tapping

How long has it been from oil change. Have you checked Oil pressure? If filter is old and dirty fluid needs to warm to be thin enough to get enough volume to valve train. If oil pump is getting weak it will not pump sufficient fluid to valves at low RPM. First change oil and filter. After that make sure pressure is in spec's.
