dont you have to move one of the sliding switches to the left side before the blower completely stops ? no then the heater switch itself needs to be checked outside of this the kicker wire on thehigh speed relay is shorted if you hear only high speed itself somethings happening
When you say you have no heat is this referring to nothing when control is turned on? Does fan work? or you have no hot air at all. If no fan could be a blown fuse [blower motor] thermostat could be installed incorrectly or faulty. Could be a faulty heater control valve if you have one not allowing hot water into heater core.
1.check coolant level---must open bleed valve above thermostat when adding coolant.
2. Are fans radiator fans running when car ovrheats & is air comming off of radiator hot?
3. Check/Replace thermostat.
4. There is a plastic elbow that connects from the intakke manifold to the engine block on the passenger side of car that arrre notorioous for cracking / leaking....
5. The heater core on `05 Impala does not close when heater is turned off so does not benifit overheating by turning heater on.
Locate the heater hoses and feel for temperature.Should be warm to the touch. There may be an external heater control valve next to the firewall that is either vacuum or cable controlled. the lever on the side opens and closes: warm coolant going into the heater core,inside the cab. If the valve is stuck,no heat. If the vacuum to the valve is ZERO,it should open. If the heater control vacuum hose is leaking air,you should get hot air ALL of the time. people in the winter want heat NOW. Bypass the heater valve,under the hood with a section of copper or plastic tubing. Even if the heater core is partly plugged up,you will still get some heat. If the control valve is stuck closed: NO HEAT. Listen under the dashboard for a hissing sound.That may be the problem for the control valve not opening.(Turn the fan off) I'll assume this is a late model truck.
Could be the heater core, or where your heater hoses connect at the firewall. Heater core leak would more than likely put steam in the vents of you car when heater is on and hot and fan on. If the leak is just in the engine compartment, it`s a hose or a loose connection.
If there is white smoke coming out of that location, chances are that you have a heater core leak. Hot radiator fluid passes through 2 smaller radiator tubes to the heater core. Air from the fan is passed over the heat exchanger, and hot air blows out. White smoke = steam. You can block off the heater core tubes until you can get it replaced.
Could be that the heater core is disconnected, there are two hoses that attach to the heather core that come out of the engine, this provides hot water to the core thus making the heater work, when the heater core starts leaking water the quick and fast fix would be to bypass the heater core and connect the two hoses together, check under the hood on the left passenger side there should be two hoses about 1" thick see if there are connected together or of they seem to be connected to 2 outlets that come out of the inside of the vehicle. people do that specially if selling vehicle.
