It depends on WHY the piston is misfiring.........it could be catastrophic piston damage, where a complete engine overhaul is required...and the cost could be literally thousands of dollars....OR it could be as simple as a spark plug failure or lead failure........and this would be $10-$20 or so..........unfortunately more info would be required to provide a valid estimate......

This will depend on the diagnosis. Misfire can be electrical or mechanical. Electrical causes are plug, wire or coil--less than $100. If it is none of these, I would do a compression test. Low compression would indicate a valve problem--burned valve. Or, you could have a failed lifter, but that would make a loud ticking sound. If it's either of these, the engine has to come apart and we're talking about a lot more labor.

It could be the co2 sensor, but have you thought of having a cylinder leakage test done?? A competent garage should be able to perform this test for you. Basically they pump compressed air into each cylinder on the firing stroke, in turn, to establish that all is gas tight. If you have a broken piston ring or leaking valve, this will show up as a leak and could explain the rough running, especially on number five.

I have two broken exhaust manifolds. what kind of costs should i expect

Two broken manifolds are caused by engine mount problems. The engine had to be rocking in the mounts substantually to break both manifolds. The parts and labor for the engine mount repair if needed is not listed but can easily run $300.00 in addition to the costs below depending on the number of mounts required and equipment to be disconnected for engine mount replacement.

Here is just the Manifolds estimate:
Estimate Includes: Labor: $478 - $609

Parts:
$170 - $1067

Estimates exclude applicable taxes, diagnostic charges, disposal fees, and miscellaneous expenses.

I am planning to buy 2000 audi A4 with 95000 miles on it? What do I need to check on this car before I drive off the lot?

This info is from MSN autos.

Occasional problems on this vehicle, 4-cylinder engines only, are failures of the Engine, Engine Vacuum Hoses and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor. Failure of the Engine is caused because the engine oil gels. When proper maintenance schedules for oil changes are followed, oil gelling should not occur. Audi has issued an 8 year unlimited mileage goodwill repair for this condition. The cost to replace the MAF Sensor is estimated at $380.00 for parts and $60.00 for labor. The cost to repair the Engine Vacuum Hoses is estimated at $25.00 for parts and $65.00 for labor. The cost to repair the Engine is estimated at $4,775.00 for parts and $845.00 for labor. The cost to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor is estimated at $500.00 for parts and $52.00 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65.00 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.

Occasional problems on this vehicle are failure of the Comfort Control Module, with 4-cylinder engines only, and failure of the 4-Way Hazard Flasher. The cost to repair the Comfort Control Module is estimated at $290.00 for parts and $65.00 for labor. The cost to replace the 4-Way Hazard Flasher is $31.50 for parts and $91.00 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65.00 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.

Fuel in Oil

Yes it could be from damage in the piston rings but the ring damage would have to be sever for this to happen(Rough running engine or missfire) You can check for bad piston rings by doing a compression check of the supsected bad cylinder or cylinders.I belive autozone rents this tool out. Another possibility is bad seals in your valves, during compression stroke the air fule mix could be leaving thro a bad seal in one of your valves. due to the compexity of this test i recomend you have your valve seals check by a shop.

If you can still drive it, go to Autozone or O'reillys and ask them to please scan your engine. You can spend a fortune guessing and replacing good parts. Good Luck

2004 dodge status 3.0

Average Shop Labor Guide = 10.5 hrs @ (ask the shop how much their shoprate is) example : if it is $80 per hour - then $840 labor.

INCLUDES R & R OF COMPLETE ENGINE ASSEMBLY. TRANSFER OF ALLNECESSARY PARTS. NOTE *** DOES NOT INCLUDE GASKET REPLACEMENT ***

if you require any new parts - spark plugs , fluids , possible a/cfreon , hoses , sensors , gaskets , unforseen broken parts , servicessuch as diagnostics after the install , ect., price goes up .

get written estimates from multiple shops , compare prices , go with who you trust . remember this when you vote ,i'm not the bad guy , just researching and relaying honest information . cheers
