Check the battery cables for corrosion, have a parts store like Autozone test the batter and charging system, it is free. I will bet you have a bad battery.
yes it does, how ever if you are removing batter longer than 24 hrs you will need to plug a 9volt batter threw the cigarette lighter to prevent the comp. from totally deprograming it self. some times it will but in30 % of the time the computer will need flashed after reinstall batter for it to work again. if you don't keep 9volt constantly running to the computer.

Hello and welcome to Fixya! As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive batter connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle back to it's normal operation.
Please do keep me posted on the progress. I'll be glad to help you out. Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya! Have a good one!
Yes in some cases it can run off alternator but your car still need to be hooked up to the batter. In some other cases you still need some of a charge in the battery because your car is drawing more current than what your alternator puts out when starting. If the battery is more than 4 years old it might need to be replaced. Take it to a local auto parts store and have them test the batter if possible. If you are using a cheap small wired jumper cable it might not be allowing enough current to start the other car.
check alternator pully for play. Symptoms indicate a bad pully bearing allowing the belt to slip off. Could be other than alternator, such as an idler pulley or the tensioner, but you mention the battery discharging, which also indicates alternator.
Hi There, I'm having the same problem but the car wont start of the key! I have to put jump leads onto the batter befroe i will start. id you have the same problm?
Boost your car with jumper cables and let the car idle or drive around for about 20 minutes for the alternather charge the batter on its own .if the car shuts off after you started it might be your alternather is no good . the reason why ur alternather might not be working is because the batter all it does is give enough power for the starter to crank the engine as soon as the engine starts running it gets all its juice from the alternather and it charges the batter as well. but some times when the alternather works and the batter is dead meaning all the cells inside the batter are dead it will never take the charge from the alternather. so you would have to change the batter.
if you would like to know how you can you test both parts useing a volt-a-meter... just ask...
p.s. I think its ur batter if you never changed it. so get that changed for the winter so you wont have any more starting problems during cold wheaters
