If you can start the engine, connect a voltmeter to the battery. If you aren't getting about 13.5 Volts, you probably have a problem with the alternator.

How to find an electrical disturbance in 1998 ford expedition

Normally this condition is the result of a poor body ground connection. Testing for this can be deceiving. At the static(nothing on) condition, testing can show a good ground. However when a circuit is excited, it has a determined resistance and a set current flow. If the ground connection to this or a branch circuit is loose, corroded, or broken wire. This will allow just enough connection to show as being good, but not good enough to complete the circuit with the required amount of connection when energized.

I have a 2005 pontiac grand am. Battery went dead jumped it. Got home as getting dark the lights are flashing on and off. Even when the car is off until battery is dwad. Any help appreciated.

The low or dying battery may have tricked the alarm to set off. Have your battery tested. It will have to be charged up again first, but it should be fully tested. Either it or your charging system may have a problem to cause a dead battery in the first place.

When you have reinstalled a good battery, turn the key to on and observe the security light and the check engine light. They should both come on as a bulb alert that both are working, and the security light should turn off in about 5 seconds. The check engine light should go off as soon as the engine is started. If all systems go, so far, then now would be a good time to do a simple test of the charging system. Anyone with a voltmeter could do it.

My 2006 arcti cat 250 dvx turns on an runs great but when I turn the key to the turn the light on it dies please help

Sound like one of the wires to the light might be shorted. Remove the bulb(s) and try it. Also look at the bulb sockets for loose wires and bent connectors. Otherwise you need to trace the wires from the light switch to the bulbs to see where it is touching (shorted). Good Luck.

Front right turn signal light does not blink but will turn on replaced bulb still only one side of duel fillement bulb lights up i think there is a ground issue but not sure if only this turn bulb gro

If you have a loose piece of wire, run it from the battery negative to the light housing, to check your ground. I put seperate grounds directly from battery negative to all light housings because they are so very fickle.

Turn signal doesn't work

Remove old light bulb. Clean all contacts, put some die-electric grease on the new bulb, reinstall. Since I did that to my Intrigue I haven't any problems with bulbs blowing. I think it's a problem with moisture getting inside and the grease stops the bulb from shorting out.

I suspect you have two separate issues your lights staying on is possibly a faulty stop and tail light bulb check both , I suspect you may also have a faulty starter motor.

My ignition was ripped out as someone tried to drive away in my Neon 2002. Tried to put the ignion back in in order to restart the car. It didn't work so good so I tried starting with a screw driver....

You need a new ignition lock with transponder chip and key with transponder chip. Then you need to pair them. You can either do this at a dealership, or you can disconnect the battery for 4 hours, put the ignition key in the ignition but not turned on, connect the battery, wait 15 minutes for the system to reset and pair and then cross your fingers.

Battery died after braking lights woulnt turn off had battery recharged now it wont crank also replaced 120v fused

Hi,
Sorry to hear your having trouble,
First let's get brake lights to turn off. For now - just remove the bulbs DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THIS - -this is just for repair purposes.

Now be sure the battery is fully charged. Install the battery and turn the head lights on. They should be VERY BRIGHT. If the battery is truly charged to it's fullest.

You do not say what kind of car so I will post this and ask you to confirm you are attempting this much - please do this and get back to me:

1- Place the fully charged battery in the automobile.
2- Set the emergency brake at it's fullest
3- With all lights off and the brake light bulbs removed [ for test purpose]
4- Place the transmission in neutral
5-Turn the key and start the vehicle.
6- Get back to me with further comment or question.

Thanks

you need to check for a draw if the battery is dying when it sits, remove the NEGATIVE battery cable and place one end of a bulb style test light or just a 12 volt bulb in a socket with wire leads , so one of the wires will go on the NEGATIVE battery POST the other wire will go on the NEGATIVE battery CABLE this will complete the circuit (do not turn the key on like this) make sure everything is off including door lights, if the bulb is lit you have a draw. start by pulling fuses one at a time until the lite dies whatever fuse you removed that killed the light is causing your draw and that circuit should be inspected closer good luck and i hope this is what you meant please rate -jeff
