Remove the thermostat from the engine. Look on the thermostat and there should be a temperature stamped on it. Go to the kitchen and put thermostat in a pan with water make sure the thermostat is covered with water. Turn the stove on and watch the thermostat opening before the operating temperature stamped. on the thermostat. Most cars have a 195 degree thermostat. If it opens before the water boils, it should be alright. If not change the thermostat.

I have a 2009 cts cadillac, the temp therostat is set at 60 and I can't change it so I have no heat, what is my problem?

You need to have a scanner hooked up and the system tested to see what the problem is here, this system is computer controlled.

1991 honda civic, overheats, changed therostat,

you can try this, on the exhaust manifold there is a heat sensor you can replace this or take off the connection and with a small piece of electrical cable strip both ends put into the connection and that will put the fan on , if this fails then the fan itself is at fault [driver87]

ICANT GET HEAT IN MY 1992 TOYOTA PASEO. I HAVE CHANGED THE WATER PUMP, HEATER CORE, THEROSTAT, RADIATOR, AND THE HEAT STILL BLOWS OUT JUST A LITTLE WARM.

Maybe the heater core is blocked.....try using the water hose to force water thru it. You will need to take BOTH lines loose from the heater core..water should come out fast....Be careful and go slow, don't break the necks of the core !!!

Water leakiong and over heating

check where your tempature sensor goes into the mafold. It could just need to be re taped, but pull it and check for rust and slime. also everything that goes into the manifold could be a potential hazard. look for any type of tell tale signs, like slime, scale or corosion.
