SOURCE: 2001 Ford F150 5.4 runs fine cold, but loses power when hot

hi, i would get the oxygen sensor looked at first as this only starts working when the exhaust reaches a certain temp.
But as your getting the problems when the engine is up to temp then this is what i would look at first it also called a lambda sensor.
Their is no way of testing this yourself but a garage could run a test and tell you if that part is at fault.

The problem is you just need to iliminate things orderly so i would get the oxygen sensor checked first before you spend money on other parts. If this is at fault then its not expensive to replace and does cause the problem your having

SOURCE: Ford 150 runs rough when cold

Hi! Either the elbow at back of intake manifold is leaking or your intake gaskets are leaking. A very common occurance on both items and either one will set a lean code and illuminate the check engine light. Hope this info helps!

Hi, If the pump is good then water should be flowing. What about replacing the thermostat. If it is stuck shut it will not circulate. The engine will get pretty hot. Not good for engine. Replace thermostat and you're good to go. Good luck.

What causes the computer to read bank 1 to lean, bank 2 to lean. It also idles rough and will stall out while stopped. Runs great at operating speeds. It's on a 2004 F150, 4x4, 5.4 vin code 5.

More than likely you have a vaccume leak.Check arround the intake looking for any broken vac.hoses(especally the PCV hose) all the way up to where it connects to the intake.Could be a bad mass airflow sensor, but more likely a vac. leak.

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like a faulty voltage regulator, it"s 1 unit with the alternator, change the alternator, also the alt. supplies juice to the ignition switch, distributor abd plugs, thus a rough idle due to bad alternator.

check the engine for vacuum leaks at the intake manifold, u can do this with a bottle of propane, spray around the intake when it is rough and see if it smooths out, if it does u found the vacuum leak.
