However, if there is an aftermarket alt installed now then yes

all aftermarket alternators are ****!
you need to get one from Toyota of a company that specializes only in imports

2006 toyota corolla just came back 50k service now will not start


Sounds like your alternator is letting go, because your battery is not charging, and this would mean that you could probably just make it home before the juice runs out. Get your alternator checked out, if your car has 50k, this should be under warranty, otherwise could cost hundreds to replace/repair.

The is a TSB out for this problem. Take it to the dealer and they will replace you ECM with a upgraded unit. Its covered under the 8year/80k warranty.

first tighten your belt then if that doesn't help run water from a hose onto the belt while the car is running if the noise stops replace the belt
