Well it may need a new sender for the gauge but "sometimes" you can get them working again by trying Chevron Techron. Buy a bottle and follow the directions.

Gas gage not work

I would say that the gauge valve inside the gas tank is faulty. either that or the gauge itself

Fuel gage stuck at half full

Hi,
Check both the gas float and the fuel gauge. The terminal wire on the fuel float when grounded on the bare metal body of your car it will register on your gauge as "FULL ", if not the fuel gauge is malfunctioning and have to replace. When it register to your gauge as "FULL", the problem would be the gas float inside the fuel tank.
A technician could replace it for you.
Hope that helps you out.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

When I fill up my gas tank the gauge registers at 5/8th of a tank. Occassionallt the gauge will register a full tank but while I'm driving it will go back to 5/8th.

Your fuel sending unit is probably a little sticky...
I wouldnt worry about it... It's the bottom half of the tank of gas that matters , right?

Why won't my gas gauge or digital register how much gas is in my car even when it has a whole tank it registers for awile then it says i have no gas when in fact i do?

This sounds almost certainly a fuel level sensor or wiring issue. The sensor itself is in the fuel tank and it will require the tank to be lowered to access it. I would look first at the wiring from the gauge all the way back to the tank first as this is the easiest thing to eliminate first. If you encounter a short or broken connection then this will be the easiest to fix first

Fuel gauge does not register and I have replaced

Did you check to make sur you have voltage at the sensor? Before you changed out the sensor did you run a wire from one post to the other post on the connector?
doing this will make your gas gauge go to full, unless the gauge is defective

Gas gauge shows empty after filling gas tank. Eventually the gas gauge will register the proper level.

The gauge circuit is shunted on most cars, this is wierd, but needed to stabilize the readings... Your description sounds like normal function. Drivers would complain if the qauge were to be instant, going around corners, starting, stopping, all move fuel, and the gauge would indicate this, cauing driver alarm...Been this way for ever, although yours sounds like it is on the far side of the scale...if it reads correctly after a while, you could replace everything and you would have the same performance.

2006 envoy gas gage

your gas gauge sensor is most likley the problem on alot of new cars they measure your fuel off an average of were your float is at. like if your not moving it stays in one spot but as you move the float moves and reads the lowest amout that it is averaging and if your float keeps reading low your going to read that you have alot less gas than you really do. have you tried filling the tank all the way and see what it does? if it stays at full until you use some gas and your float starts moving your gas gauge will probley go down in that case its the fuel sensor if this dont help let me know and ill c what i can find out for you
