Question about 2000 Ford F350 Super Duty Super Cab

1 Answer

Ford f350 4x4 7.3 liter i changed the tensensor pully assembley belt and idler pully now i have a pulsation in the brake pedel and steering wheel when turning right or left. this also happens when i have the truck in park and i turn the wheel and push on the brakes. it didn't do this before i changed the tensenser idler and belt. so it can't be the rotors or uv joints cause its doing the pulsation in park. im thinking power steering pump or hydro booster pump maybe are weak because of the new belt the belt not to tight pretty much some tighness as the old one. what do you guys think??? thanks

Where can I find a diagram of my 1999 ford f150 5.4 liter triton v8 engine a diagram of the pully and idler pullys Doe's my engine have or come with two idler pullys thank you Leland

I have an identical truck. You have 2 which includes the tensioner pulley and a stationary pulley on the other side of the front block. The tensioner can come with or without a pulley. There should be a sticker with the belt path indicated on it, usually around the radiator Just be careful to see that a few trucks did not have A/C and the belt path shows both types.

If you have a cellphone take a picture of the belt path before you take anything off.

it can be almost anywhere on the belt side of the front of the engine. if you have a long belt or many belts then there can also be more than one idler pulley (tensioner pulley)

Ford f350 i changed belt tensener assembly and idler pully only to have it start pulsation in the brake pedal and steering wheel when turning right and left it does this in park and while driving but only...

So is the Power Steering fluid level OK? did you drive it at all with the belt off? If so there is air in the system and it may work its way out. Or at the most have a Vacuum pump connected to the reservoir and the air evacuated out of the system.

Belt inst

For the 3.0L Vulcan, you have a tensioner that is located just below the power steering pully. Use a 15mm wrench or the 15mm shallow well socket that comes in a Serpentine Belt tool to push the tensioner toward the rear of the engine compartment. Take the old belt off and route the new belt. The belt begins at the crankshaft pully, goes under and around the a/c compressor, up around the power steering pump, around (with the flat edge) the idler pully, around the alternator, the flat edge then sits against the tensioner and back around to the water pump pully. You should have a belt routing diagram on the underside of the hood just above the serpentine pully assembly.

Surpentine belt.

depends on which v8 you have....the 4.7 the routing is as follows it goes under the waterpump pully over the alternator down and around the power steering pumpto the crank...it goes under the bottom of the crank to the idler pully.the flat side of the belt goes ver the idler then around the automatic tensioner to the ac compressor.
on the 5.2 and 5.9 it routes starting at the idler pully the flat side goes undr the idler the up to the ac compressor around the compressor and down to the power steering pump ... around power stering pump to waterpump where the flat side is against waterpump pully around water pump down and around crank up it automatic tensioner....around tensioner and up and over alternator
