Make sure your tranny fluid is at the proper level. Check it when hot only at idle in park. Fill with the proper ford fluid only as marked on the dip stick or a reasonable facsimily. Hard shifting can also mean worn tranny components. Try the fill up first & check the tranny for leaks. Good luck!

This is a fault in the gear box velve block, there are little pistons in this velve block and they have rubber "O" rings on them if there hard or worn they leek oil past them so the gear box presher needs to be high to move them all you can do is have a re-build done on the box

I have a 1993 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible with 3.0 L V-6 and automatic 3 spd w/overdirve transmission. A couple of years ago, the transmission went into "limp-in" mode a couple of times, then...

My friend, from the sounds of it a scanner is not going to help you. It sounds like your valve assembly and possibly one or more of the bands are shot. Usually, when a tranny starts to slip in and out of gear on it's own or slips under a load that is not something that can be fixed without replacing parts. If it was a shift solenoid then it would just not shift into or out of certain gears. I am not even sure that a 93 would have an electric shift solenoid.

I feel your pain though, my tranny went out 8 months ago and I tried all sorts of things to "heal" it, from flushes to new cooler to additives but deep down, I knew it was shot and it was. Now, $3500 later, it runs fine :)

Transmission on 1995 Buick Century, slipping badly

Sir I would first change my filter. When you do you should be able to acertain if anything is wrong by what yuo find in your pan. I think your clutchs are probably bad, but with out being able to scan it I don't have any other ideas. I have been lucky a couple of time before and changing the filter solved my problem. Your car is in limp mode generally you have reverse and second gear. 1st gear and reverse use the same clutches, so I am wondering if maybe you have second gear only!

2000 VW Jetta squealing when shifting from 2-3rd and hard shift down when going up hill

hi if its just second to thrid then the clutch is slipping on thrid gear look at the boxes oil level is important but look at the colour is it red and tranperant as this is ok if its brown its a sign of the clutches slipping i would try a stall test on thrid gear first and if its ok second gear [manually] see is the engine stalls at the correct rpm if you thinkabout it imagine you are in thrid gear in a manuual box and suddenly drop into second it would be hard shifting it could also be a faulty thrid gear solenoid yates210456
