Check the fusebox under the driver side dash. Open the box and look for a fuse labeled brake lights or parking lights. Remove the fuse and check with a continuity checker or meter. If it is bad, replace with a similar color or similar amp fuse. It will be labeled 15 or 20 amps.

If that doesn't work, you will need to replace the brake light switch. This is located at the top of your brake lever arm that is connected to your brake pedal. Unbolt it and remove from the wiring harness. Go to the dealer and get a new one. Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi if none of your brake lights are working then this points towards the brake light switch failing, its not expensive to buy and will only take 30min ti fit by someone who knows what their doing.

the brake light switch is located at the back of the brake pedal and its right at the very top of the pedal its a bit hard to get to but if you have a close look at the brake pedal you should just about see it its right at the very top and at the back of the pedal you should then see the switch with a couple of wires going to it.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as unrated posts wont get a response, thanks

Break light stays on

First when this brake light stays means there IS a problem. Could be just that the brake fluid in the master cylinder is low...easy to check...Is the brake pedal working differently now? Is the parking brale fully released? If none of the above...provide more info on other brake function symptoms...:)

Bbrake lights worked then didn't. replced fuse

You have a brake light switch under the brake pedal arm. When you apply brakes the arm presses a switch and turns them on. The switch may have went bad. Easy to replace. It's works like the push button in a refrig "open the door the lights come on" close it and the lights go off.

Brake lights

do you have a 3rd brake light like on that is on the roof or in the rear window? if so does it work?
the brake lights are usually a 2way bulb so just because the lights work doesn't mean that brake lights will. if the 3rd brake light works replace the brake light bulbs if none of them work including your 3 brake light. check into having your brake switch changed. that is the switch under the brake pedal. when it is pressed the brake lights come on and when released they go off. if the bulbs do not fix the problem than try the switch.
