Yes the light will reset itself. It has to go through so many drive cycles and pass the test again before it will reset. You may want to go ahead and check the o-ring seal on the gas cap and make sure its not cracked or split this will set the same light.

Hi. I have a Honda 2006 and the light saying check fuel cap is on even though cap is securely in place. Any thoughts? Thanks

Try replacing the fuel tank cap first, then it gets more complicated if the message doesn't go away.

2009 crv check fuel cap

Go to the parts store where you bought the cap. Sometimes the code clears on it's own and sometimes you need to have it reset. If this is not an option disconnect the negative battery cable for a minute. Just as a warning, if you disconnect the battery you will have to reprogram most all of your electronics.

Obd code p1478 on 328ci cant find what it is.

This code can be generated by putting gas in vehicle while engine running, loose fuel cap, bad hoses on the evaporator clear codes tighten gas cap see if it returns. when tightening fuel cap turn it three clicks minimum. If that is not the case then you will have to perform a smoke test on the fuel system to determine where your evaporator leak is at, any competent repair shop will have the special equipment to perform this test..Good Luck Tim

Why I am getting a message saying check fuel cap on my 2005 Honda Oddessy?

On many velicles the fuel cap is the cause of the check engine light coming on or in your case the check fuel light. The rubber around the cap becomes to woren out and fumes leak out. This sends a signal to the brain to let you no. If you go to a parts store and buy a new cap the light will go out and the problem will end.

I have a 01 honda accord 2.3l it has a obd fault code p1456, can any one tell me what this code means?

smal evap leak detected....very common check your fuel cap make sure it't tightened at least three clicks-check the o-ring of the cap as this will
cause a leak as well. drive vehicle the code will clear it's self if it odes not go away after 1 week of continuos driving it may have a larger leak
in this case you need to see a dealership-they will perform evap function test and determine if problem is worse-1457 is the bad one indicates large leak and can be expensive,. hope this helps.

Check engine light

Sorry your going to have to change the gas cap. You can try  spraying WD-40 to the rubber seal on the gas cap to get you some more months out of it, the seals get hard and don't seal any more. Good luck

Engine Light/tighten fuel cap

Good Day,

Sounds like your fuel cap needs to be replaced, there is a rubber seal in there to which keeps fuel pressure up, when this seal goes bad you get a drop in pressure and your engine light will come on. Replace the cap with a new one. As far as your lighter ports that is probably due to a blown fuse and unrelated to the fuel cap issue.

Hope this helps
