05 c200 cdi preglow light goes off then soon as start driving comes back on for a couple of minutes then goes off

no should only come on when you first start engine couple of seconds if its comming on after that there is a problem with them

If there is a problem with any electrical sensors,switches,motors in and on the engine anylon slight fault can bring the glowplug light on. I would suggest that you take to a independent Mercedes specialist and have the code read most fault are logged.

Its possible the glow plugs when its warm the diesel is warm and starts more easily when its cold the diesle needs warming more so the glow plugs work harder in the winter only way i know how to test them is to take 1 out at a time turn the pre ignition on so the glow plug light comes on and the plug should glow red if not buy the 4 and replace the lot you could also check the wireing going to the plugs hope this helps ivan

could have restricted air filter or exhaust system has restriction, your turbo charger failing.

Normally a low gear box oil lvl when the car moves what oil there is goes around the transmition when you idle it all goes to the bottom making it judder

Well if you had me as a passenger you wouldnt smell nothing ,cars never play up when i get in them for some strange reason ,To be honest ask a local mechanic to use the car for a couple of days so with a bit of luck it will happen when hes driving it and as soon as he smells it he will know what it is ,it could be antifreeze ,radio ,wires, plastic on exhaust down pipe ,anything in fact have you had a new exhaust fitted recently ,are cats getting in somewhere ?? very difficult to point you in the right direction sorry

seems like your mass air flow meter is on its way out i had similar issue with my 98 pathfinder it did not throw a code until it finally went.

The wire that connects to emergency brake is loose, and grounding out. It probably just needs to be tightened up.

sounds like you have a bad cell in your battery especially if the weather is cold there that is when the battery is worked most
