Just replaced my clutch twice in the same week, autozone gave me wrong clutch. 2001 Daewoo Nubira. remove wheel well liner from both front tires. remove knuckles from strut and if you want to make things alot easier remove tie rod end links from them as well. remove cv axles. unhook slave cylinder from mounting bracket. unbolt shift linkage. unbolt starter pul it back. remove bolts on transmission to engine. remove transmission mount bolts carrefull as this will begin the transmission drop point. use a cherry picker for easiest results. i had nothing but hand tools and a jack in my driveway. make it work. its simple just take you time.

You take out the gearbox to access the clutch.

We know that much but what else in entailed? How long will it take?

  • Azrael SRL Aug 30, 2010

The process involved: lift the car, take out the radiator and remove all the pipes that are in the way, disconnect the planetary shafts, disconnect and remove all the electronics and the battery, disconnect the linkage, remove the starter, prop up the engine and remove the gearbox. Replace the clutch and fit everything in reverse.

A good mechanic with all the tools will do it in about 6 hours. You, at home, most likely in at least 8 hours.

SOURCE: replacing timing belt on daewoo nubira 2000 model

Instructions Difficulty: Moderate Things You’ll Need:

  • Set of ¼-inch drive sockets ¼-inch drive ratchet Set of ½-inch drive sockets ½-inch drive ratchet Set of 3/8-inch drive sockets 3/8-inch drive ratchet Set of metric wrenches Floor jack Jack stands
Step1 Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the intake air temperature wiring, the breather hose and intake air hose. Take off the air cleaner assembly. Step2 Remove the right wheel. Remove the accessory belts. Remove the crankshaft bolt and the crankshaft pulley. Remove the power steering bolts and the timing belt covers. Temporarily install the crankshaft bolt and turn the engine clockwise until the mark on the crankshaft pulley, which is a triangle stamped into the crank sprocket, is aligned with the corresponding triangular mark on the block. Step3 Make sure that the timing marks are aligned on the camshaft sprockets. These are a line on each sprocket that runs through a tooth on each sprocket. These lines should line up in the middle between each sprocket and point toward each other. If they do not line up, turn the crankshaft one more time and they will line up. It takes two turns of the crank to one complete revolution of the cam. Step4 Loosen the water pump bolts; using the 3/8-inch ratchet, turn the water pump clockwise away from the belt and loosely tighten the bolts to keep it there. Remove the timing beltmag-glass_10x10.gif. Make sure the timing marks are aligned and install the new belt starting on the right side from the crank sprocket and working counterclockwise. Keep all the belt tension on the right side away from the tensioner. Step5 Loosen the bolts in the water pump and rotate the water pump counterclockwise to apply tension to the belt. Watch the tensioner, which is above the water pump, and apply tension with the water pump until the pointer on the tensioner lines up with the notch above it. Lightly tighten the water-pump bolts. Step6 Turn the engine two more times and align the timing marks perfectly. Loosen the water-pump bolts and, using the ratchet, apply tension to the belt until the tensioner pointers are aligned. Tighten the water-pump bolts. Step7 Install the timing-belt covers and the bolts in the power-steering pump and tighten. Remove the crankshaft bolt and install the crank pulley and the bolt, then torque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 70 foot pounds of torque. Install all components in reverse order of removal.

Hi! I am not a good of speaker english, sorry.. I have Daewoo Nubira 2001 motor T20SED, transmision 4T40E and i have the problem : after driving at 100 km/h light ON Check Engine - error clutch torque...

Do you have the error code (P0742 = torque converter clutch stuck on...locked and P0741 TCC stuck off). The TCC solenoid replacement for the 4T40E (and 4T45E) is not very expensive but the job of getting the transmission case out from the car is difficult. Unless you have experience of fixing transmissions this is best left to an expert.

Clutch problems on a 1999 daewoo nubira

It's your slave cylinder most likely. Assuming you don't have any leaks in the system. Your pedal is connected to a hydraulic cylinder. It should be up under the dash. Follow the pedal up until you see it.

My clutch cable just went on my daewoo nubira 98

Hi there, I would be checking the fluid in the clutch master cylinder first, It should have a small yellow lid on it make sure it is full it might only be a hydraulic issue rather than a clutch plate. If it has no fluid in there check the slave cylinder for leaks that is located on the end of the clutch fork on the gearbox. Hopefully thats the problem and it wont cost alot.Good luck.
